=][= Allies can only be taken once the mandatory choices in an army have been made and specifically state that they cannot be used to meet those requirements. Since every single HQ in a Wolf army is mandatory, you cannot include an =][= Lord, who is requisite for using an Assassin. That's the long explanation as to why you can't use assassins.

Thanks for the RS. To make your answer complete. Like Bran already said you can´t take an I-Lord, but you can take an elite Inquisitor. The problem is that you can choose only 1 elite slot from C:DH. You need the elite ][, but if you take him you can´t take an Assassine and without him you also can´t take the Assassine.
ah dang.... BUT WAIT couldnt you just have 2 HQ and have an assasin?

No, Space Wolves require 1 HQ for every 750 points, no more, no less. There are never any empty HQ slots to fill as the SW don't use them at all. So there's no way to take an HQ Inquisitor.

Actually it is possible to take an assassin.

The rule for taking the assassin states that "an Officio Assassinorum operative may only be chosen if an Inquisitor Lord OR Inquisitor is also part of the force." (Caps added)

so you can, you just have to eat 2 elite choices for the assassin AND the Inquisitor, leaving few other options for your wolves so if you do, choose wisely.

Ugh please read through the thread before making a post like that, that issue was already adressed you cannot take 2 Elites from the DH Codex, only one. So you can take an Elites Inquisitor however you can't also take an Assassin and you can't take the Assassin without the Inquisitor. So no, it is not possible to take an Assassin.

I dont have the DH and WH books in front of me... is the wording for assassins that you have to have an inquisitor, or is it that you have to have a particular kind of inquisitor?

Ive been thinking, and its a little twinking, but couldnt you take an elite from one list and an elite from the other and call it good?
