Border Prince
I want to know what you think about my idea about a Great Company. I have planned to use Bjorn Stormwolf's black Thunderwolf as my chapter symbol, with grey armour and white or yellow shoulders. Im unsure about the Great Company's name, it' either going to be Ulfheidnars (Old Norse for Wolfskins, another name for the Berserkers.) or Einherjars (Warriors fallen in combat that are brought back to life to fight for Allfather Odin.) Ulfheidnars is a nice, wolf-themed name, while the ledgend of the Enherjars are very similar to that of the Space Wolves recuiting method. The tactical marking are gouing to be Elder futhark runes: HQ= Ansuz/Aesir, Elites= Uruz/Aurochs, Troops= Mannaz/Man, Transport=Raido/Ride, Fast= Ehwaz/Horse and Heavy= Thurisaz/giant. My background so far is that my Great Chapter have been tied up for some milennia far from home. They still recieve the occational reinforcements from Fenris, but they are not enough, so the Great Wolf allows them to recuit from some nearby nearby feral worlds. The chapter have grow in strenght during the last decades of "peace", almost doubbling their ranks. Recuiting World: Russ (Named after the primarch whose legion united the planet with the Imperium a hundred centuries ago.) Continents: Midgard: Largest continent, forested and mountainous : The by far most civilized, powerful, and populated continent, with a Viking culture. Vinland: Second largest continent. half is plains populated by nomadic riders, half is woodland populated by hunter-gatherers and farmers: Native American culture. Muspelheim: The second smallest continent, also the most southernmost continent. Mostly deserts and savannahs, but there are also jungles around the Equator. African culture Nefelheim: The smallest continent. Icy and situated at the North pole. Sun: Sol Moon: Mani Notable wildlife: Lindorms: 50-100 feet long serpents. Seawyrms: 100-200 feet long aquatic serpents. Drakes, fire breathing, winged serpents. Fenreisian Wolves: The offsprings of the wolves that followed the Space Wolf legion millenias ago. I'm not sure wich continent that will house the Great Company's fortress. The company are going to have "African" style and "Native American" style warriors as well, but the great majority will still be "Vikings". Border Prince
Great Company, it's a gang of Wolves that have become more or less semi independent. Haakon_Stormbrow
i use a storm wolf as well, mine is based of the second edition wolf lord Haakon Stormbrow, anyhow i thought i'd inform of a problem i faced when attempting to make wolves from this great company. you say yellow shoulder pads, and i used to do that, that was until i found out that there was no way to display the yellow lightning bolt behind the thunder wolf when your shoulder pad is yellow, which is why i went to a black shoulder pad, this was to represent the stormy dark night that the storm wolf is renown for, i used red and black triangles for squad markings on grey hunters and yellow and red on he blood claws, but all have a black left shoulder with red border the only problem with this set up is the wolf must be painted on in a grey or white color. alternatively you can do what i used to do, the left shoulder was red trim codex grey with a yellow lightning bolt and a deacl thunder wolf.
