helmet coloration

hey guys. I am working on a my diy army, and doing a quartered scheme. Generally those kinda of schemes tend to have helmets in split color schemes(one side is one color, the other side is another). But heres my main problem. Under standard codex organizations, often times the veterans generally where white helmets and sergeants generally have red helmets(or white for veterans with red stripes).

So....with a split color scheme do they still follow those traditions and have the veterans in the white helms, or maybe a full colored helm of one of the split colors and sergeants in red.

I have searched and searched but can't seem to find any pics of any split schemes(halves or quartered) that seem to show pictures of helmeted sergeants or veterans. Mostly i am trying to figure out if i should go with a solid red helm for my sergeants, because my veterans are a bit easier, since most are of the first company and will have a white shoulder pad trim. My colors will be scaly green and black, so i could just do veterans in solid scaly green helms, and then do sergeants with a red stripe, but again its just i would love to see some inspiration on these split schems and the way they mark there sergeants and veterans. I do plan to have veteran sergeants with back banners and my sergeants that are non veterans will end up having eagles or some kinda of trophy on there backpacks, but i want a way to mark them.

So if anyone has any ideas or suggestions or even some pics that would be very high appreciated. its a pain when you search the internet lookingg for split/quartered schemes and only find pics of basic troopers. Its almost like no one seems to do these schemes.

Hey i have a diy chapter in a quartered scheme too, however, i left the helmets as whole colours so i didnt have to worry about which colours to choose. I have silver helmets for my standard troops, vets white and my sgts are personalised with berets lol. Thats the joys of having your own chapter to play around with you can do whatever you like.
I dont think I have actually ever seen a quartered or halved marine that also had a halved helmet. Usually I see it as a solid color, so for your example your marines are green and black and the helmet might be black, or perhaps an alltogether different color. My advice would to make all marines have a solid helmet, for regular marines perhaps pick green or black and then for vets and srg. you can pick what suits your fancy.
