Imperial Fists

Well, as some of you already knows I had been working on my IF's for long time so far, between striping, destroyed models, a lot of brushing and so, my army starts to take form, there is a lot of work to do but that's what I have till now...

The guy with MK8 model armor I will try to convert, using my few spare bits, into the army captain (hard task, for me at least)

My poor camera quality masquerade the shadows made using Yellow ink, and I still need to highlight all the minis

Following the Codex (3rd ed. I think) the IF's sarges uses only a skull (metal or bone) on the helmets as patent insignia, I tried bone version, wasn´t so bad. The vets uses a red stripe on the helmet as status marking.

Vet sarge, caring the helmet with skull and the red stripe. I left the helmet lenses black as its not "turned on", what my brothers think about it ? Comments and suggestions about that point will be appreciated ^^

I will try to get a pointing power fist to him and a terminator honors shoulder pad (I´m thinking on get one to the "captain" too)

That's all for now... this weekend I will try to finish the backpacks and the highlights. The arms I will do latter when I learn to play ... yes, thats true, I don't know how to play... I wanna give weapons that makes the army legal for gaming.

Nice work, Mau! I'm guessing this isn't the first time you've painted miniatures? Your yellow is very smooth, and the red contrasts perfectly with the armour. The 'Eye Lenses Off' idea is neat. I think it's ace, and you should keep it! Also, it's good to see some Mk. 6 helmets! Gotta love the Mk.6 helmets :)

Just a suggestion, but if you were to make the Mk.6 Beakie in Picture 2 (2nd from the Right) a Combat Squad Leader, you could try painting his 'beak' red. That'd be a pretty sweet idea. Or, in fact, you could just try it for any/all of your Mk.6 marines! Hope you'll take this into consideration.

I'm logging out just now, but consider this thread watched :(

Thanks Blood.

I just painted some necrons for a friend ... I never painted minis before.... Ok it´s a lie ... I painted some rogue trades 22 years ago ;) When I was 12 ^^ so I´m just new to the hobby.

I will think in paint the MK6 as vets... all of them, just for visual effect ;) But they will not be squad leaders, I don´t have any helmet for them with the skull. Beakies are the best of marines.

  • 4 weeks later...

I had no lucky with new pictures from those ones.... but any way ...

Here are the ones I'm trying to save after the problem with brake fluid. For some reason the minis from the Macrage box didn't behave like mine other minis and the plastic went into a terrible state ...

This is a overview of the 10 marines I bought...

This is a zoom on the most affected ones...

Once more the camera took away all the shadows and tones ... I know that they look like small bananas but IRL they are not that bad. Some details still missing like: eyes, some power pack details, some vents and de weapons of the ones that are not caring their bolters ^^

I hope to be able to give a nice paint job on these ones... Soon I will be starting an assault and a scout squads... than I will move to the 2 rhinos, Dread and termies... Still have a long road ahead.

Thats all ... C&C ?

Your yellow looks very smooth so much Kudos for that, but I think the pastel effect is exacerbated by the fact you have done the groin and leg joints very well and dark, but that doesn't follow around to the fron of the knees and feet where the join isn't nearly as visible. I use a thin layer of watered down dark brown in the recesses there to break up the yellow. I would also have the red trim on the shoulder pads cover the undersides of the pad as well to help break up the yellow a bit more on the upper torso.

Other than that, jobs a good one!

Nice work, very smooth yellow... and trust me as someone whos getting used to the pains of yellow, thats no small feat!!

Quick question, do you paint your yellow directly onto the white undercoat or do you use a 'peach' coat first? (personally I put a thin layer or two fo elf flesh before painting the yellow, it gives the yellow a little more body).

Hey Noi, thanks for the comments I really need to work with those lines, and about the trims you just gave me the light I was in need I spent a lot of time last night thinking if that spot needs red or not ... Im going to put some red in there now ... thanks !!!

The yellow is excellent (can't paint yellow to save my life sad.gif ), but it could do with some shading. It's too flat.

A wash with Devlan Mud would be good, in my opinion (I love that wash).

Skull, as I live in Brazil I'm waiting the washes arrives... I ordered them 1 month ago =) I hope that it shows up nice... or I will have to kill some ppl including you =) Just joking ^^

Hey Mal... Im not using the peach coat ... I´m painting the base coat of yellow directly over the with primer ... but using an airbrush ... with saves times and gives a way better coverage.

I hope to have some more time to work on those this week, and by the weekend have some updates

Thanks all for the hints and comments

Cya
