Sculpting Details

So I went away...dabbled with mentors and then found I was bored. I won too much but only by shooting things....I took lysander but it just wasn't the same. The lure of the wolf has bitten me again and I'm back to make some pre-heresy true scale wolves with all the associated fun that'll bering. I'm making a small warband to start off with - some minimum size squads etc which should be fun but I want to put lots of detail on them.

Being big marines they'll have a bit more room for extra wolfy bits like teeth necklaces, charrms and rune plates. What I was hoping to find were some teutorial on this sort of thing but it would appear my searchfu is weak. Any help for a returning wolf brother would be most appreciated.

I had done some necklaces for my pre-Heresy WG in TDA and for some vehicles. Here´re some examples.

It´s made from a thin wire, small nails for the rivets, claws (from some ´nid arms) and plastcard for the wolf teeth, the small rune stones are from WHF Dwarves. The rest is green stuff.

I hope that helps a bit.

P.S. Oh, and welcome back at the Fang.

Cheers DB, Nice looking wolves -_-

I think i'll probably take your idea of wire as a base for the lines there - will probably be easier than trying to sculpt anything which needs to be an even thinness (rather than an even thickness) all the way across. I'm pretty sure I've got spare dwarf bits...I think I'll have a look through. Am thinking of giving them a celticy feel...not sure on that one tho.

Was hoping there might be something which was a step by step on greeenstuff knotwork, chains, wolf heads, wolf fur, etc etc.

@ oldenhaller... if you want i can knock up some step by steps on how i sculpted my wolf tooth necklaces, wolf tail talismans and runic charms... as for the chains and such like i found a site a while ago that helped so i'll search that out and post it up in a few days if you want me to
  • 2 weeks later...

i also found this article quite helpfull... it contains lots of basic hints and tips and also discusses things like sculpting faces and entire models... it has a coupleof pages later on where it deals with small details like chain, feathers, books and pouches and such like, so just stick with it and it should help....
