Friend wants to know, since GKPA have 3 attacks due to true grit, do terminators get the same thing even though they don't have true grit... they are relentless and have two 1 handed weapons that are not lightingclaws/pfs. Do nemesis force weapons count the same as a relic blade and that is why they do not get an extra attack in the form of true grit? Or...

guess its just a yes or no hehe.

If they do would they get 4 on the charge or 3 always in assaults?

thanks,

Sean

Firstly, you're fishing for rules, which is against forum policy. Read the codex first, if you don't go buy it. 90% of rules questions end up on forums because people don't read the codex, where people like me say 'read your codex'. Lot of time wasted for nothing ;)

That said, you've touched on an issue that used to plague Grey Knight/Inquisitonal forums back in 4th, namely the 'do GKT's get True Grit?'. We're in 5th edition now, so the progression is;

- Main rulebook: No mention of True Grit

- DH codex: In the list of Grey Knight special rules, it states that 'only Grey Knights in power armour recieve the bonus attack'.

- GKT's are clearly equipped with Terminator armour, so therefore they can't claim the bonus attack from True Grit

Now, to your questions:

In their profile, GKT's only have 2A's. However, unlike PAGK (who lose the charge bonus but gain 'True Grit' instead), GKT's do get the charge bonus. So, on the charge, a GKT would have 3A.

GKT's are not Relentless, but the armoury entry for Terminator armour (in the DH codex) does state they can fire heavy weapons on the move, and charge after doing so. Given that their only ranged weapon options are all Assault/Heavy, this is never an issue. If you (for some bizarre reason) gave a Brother-Captain/Grandmaster a combi-weapon, you wouldn't be able to move+shoot outside of 12" (ie rapid-fire range).

Nemesis force weapons are single-handed (this is stated explicitly in the most recent DH FAQ). They are NOT relic blades, those are the cheap imitations the Ultramarines had their Tech-Marines cook up in the latest edition. Unfortunately, because they aren't as bad-ass as GK's, Ultramarines have to use both hands when using their version :D

I think you pretty much answered your own question right there :)

It is also worth mentioning that PAGK have 1 Attack as base, thus 2 with True Grit. The exception being the Justicar, of course.

Solax,

You're so silly, everyone knows that the GK codex is simple to read and flows perfectly with 5th ed! I recently ran into the same problem. But fortunately for me Brother Captain Stern 1 shotted a Hive Tyrant and its 2 Tyrant Guard, so the rest of the squad never had a chance to attack and this problem was avoided. So with the comments made above, can the GKTs rundown fleeing units, since they aren't relentless?

I dunno...we can all bitch about how rule X or unit Y doesn't work quite as well anymore, but I think the DH codex stacks up pretty well in 5th edition. Considering we're now two editions behind the power curve, it's amazing we can compete at all with contemporary codicies.

In the armoury entry for Terminator armour, it explicitly states they can't make a sweeping advance move. So, no running down enemy units, you'll have to kill them the hard way.

Also, you're thinking of the wrong rule. 'Relentless' doesn't prohibit Sweeping Advance (otherwise Bikers etc wouldn't be able to), 'Slow and Purposeful' (which contains 'Relentless' as part of it's rules) is the one that prohibits Sweeping Advances.

'Slow and Purposeful' (which contains 'Relentless' as part of it's rules) is the one that prohibits Sweeping Advances.

Untrue. That restriction was removed in 5th edition too, so Obliterators (S&P) can chase you down, but Terminators can't. How silly.

Now what I find really retarded is that Terminators (ie guys in "tactical dreadnaught armour" that makes them stronger and many other things (fluff wise)) cannon sweep, assuming they "move too slow" or something. But a Dreadnaught, basically a walking tank that would in reality be 1/2 the speed CAN sweep...

now go figure that one...
