First painting attempt in years

For Warhammer at least. :)

I painted minis probably... 5-6ish years ago and have been wanting to again. My attempts before were pretty terrible. I wish I had some pictures of them, but basically imagine blood angels with a single coat of splotchy red, black trim outside of the lines, pure boltgun metal guns, and bright yellow chest eagles. No inks, no highlights. All of this done in very thick paint.

Now, I've tried again, painting a nurgle themed terminator.

I brightened the picture quite a bit because I don't have good lighting available at the moment.

Thoughts and criticism appreciated. :)

P.S. I know there are spots with mold lines and such. It's an old model and I didn't realize that I hadn't taken them off, so I got most of them as I was painting, but some still do remain.

I think this chap looks excellent, considering it's been a little while since you have painted some mini's. The green look very good, and the progressive highlighting is very tidy, perhaps a little too tidy for Nurgle? lol! I think I would have to agree with the head though, maybe trimming the back down, and under the chin to get a more snug fit, then maybe some Green Stuff to hide the join and 'gross him up' a little would have been a good idea, but I still say BRAVO for a very good effort :)

Haha.. Maybe it is, but I don't really like the overdone nurgle look. There's a nice balance of the simple but dirty that I hope I can get eventually.

Yeah, I didn't really notice that the head is probably sticking out a lot more than it should. Thinking back to the original head, it kind of sat low in the opening. I glued it with superglue, though, so it's really easy to twist and snap. I don't have any green stuff right now so that will have to wait probably. He can just have a nice, stretchy-jelly neck for now. ;)

I think the head works well for Nurgle... looks nice and bloated/deformed.

I think it might look a little larger than it should because it is protruding, you can get around this by trimming the head a little (at the back) so that it fits into the mini a bit deeper... but that is only if you are unhappy with it... I like it.

As for the rest of the mini, looks good, nice and neat... maybe a little too neat for Nurgle though, like a Nurgle marine that has just had a bath.

Back when I was painting my death guard (3rd ed) I did my best to make them look as dirty as possible (a good use for drybrushing) by slapping on (by "slapping on" I mean carefully drybrushing to make it look like slapping on) some different colours (rotting flesh and snake bite) randomly (again, made to look random) over every thing (including trim and metal parts)... but that was just me, it really depends on what look you are going for.
