I recently came into possesion of Abaddon from a friend as a trade.

As i don't collect Black legion (Blood reavers for me) i decided to paint him in my army colours.

C+C welcome

He looks alright, but not quite finished. His back could really use some paint on both the grating and the rivets. That and the aforementioned washes could make him look far more "complete". Right now he just looks like he's WIP but well on his way.

I really hate the Abaddon figure, but your painting isn't bad. Just need to finish him it looks like - keep it up!

colors dont look bad (and who's to say there isn't a blood reaver character that has frirghtening similar stats and weapons)

think it'd be better if you did a different color for the hair to make it stand out more and agree with others that you should try a few washes to give it a bit of depth. face looks pretty good but the color is a little flat. there was a white dwarf a few months ago with a section for painting faces - have a look at that if you can to see what washes work well to add depth.

oh - and please paint the genestealer skull :tu:

the White Dwarf with the face tutorials is issue 350... its got the lizardman on the front (i keep it next to my desk for when i'm doing faces)...

i'd agree that maybe changing the colour of the hair, or if its staying blue at least darken it a bit. and yes the colours could do with being highlighted and shaded a bit (the red especially would be improved by running a bit of devlan mud in the recesses and then highlighting the extreme edges with a bit of blood red/blazing orange mixed together)... i wouldn't worry too much about highlighting the black yet as its a very hard colour to paint well.

all in all its a nice tabletop quality miniature and with a bit of work would become a very nice character model... good luck with your painting and if you continue trying you will improve alot over time.

You've got some nice ideas and I think that it's always positive to try something new. The Abaddon model is a bit of a pig to paint, but it's got a lot of good memories for me so for some stupid reason I like it.

Some tidying up as mentioned above would really add character to your figure - you might see something useful on mine if that helps you?
