Cath
Is there any special benefit to having rage at all, or is it just a USR they threw in there for no reason? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164622-rage-usr/ Share on other sites
Legatus
There is no benefit to rage. It forces a unit to move towards an enemy unit, isntead of standing still or moving in a different direction. That is a disadvantage. Blood Angels and Berserkers had similar rules in previous codices. The Death Company still has similar rules, as do a few Witch Hunter units. The last Codex Tyranids had similar rules for instinctive behaviour. But so far GW has not really done anything with the "rage" USR and hasn't changed the existing similar rules to match the new rage rules. Orks and Marines do not make use of said rule. Perhaps a new Codex Tyranids or Codex Blood Angels might. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164622-rage-usr/#findComment-1935926 Share on other sites

Steelmage99
I seem to remember that a character in the new IG codex will confer Rage to any unit he joins. Obviously the original question stems from a somewhat misguided notion that all USR must be beneficial. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164622-rage-usr/#findComment-1936410 Share on other sites
Lord Humongous
Doesn't Mad Doc Grotsnick have rage, and confer it on units he joins? Chaos Spawn effectively have rage, although its a special rule from their codex entry, not the USR. As others have said, its not a beneficial rule; its there to simulate units that are basically insanely, blindly bloodthirsty- to the point that they ignore all tactical consirations.
