Techmarine

Thought I'd share some photos of my recently finished techmarine.

This model took forever to paint. The NMM on the servo arm was pretty tiresome.

This is possibly my favourite 40k model so I was determined to do a decent job. Like with Pedro Kantor i wanted a battle worn look to the model but was attempting to explore a slightly different way of achieving it other than lots of paint chips.

The model isn't painted for any specific chapter. I felt Juan Diaz's sculpt was so strong that it should stand alone, rather than be weighted in people's ideas that relate to specific marine chapters. Techmarines are suppose to be very much divorced from their brothers anyway and I guess I wanted to really highlight that sense of isolation.

On to the pictures

Well Done!

I think it's a nice example of how a techmarine can break the common mold while still remaining recognizable and yet aloof.

Nice job on the subtle effects like the check-pattern on the knee, the caution striping, and I think my favorite part of the model is the chest plate though.

Thank you.

Cathar- I've had that piece as a WIP for about 2 years. Obviously I was only working on it very sporadically and for over a year the only thing painted on the model was a leg in fact. I always recomend people to be paitient when painting. If you are in a rush you might settle for a technique that is less good for your purposes, for example using an ink wash to save time when really you need to apply shading in a number of layered glazes. So a lot of the time was spent waiting for inspiration. The NMM backpack in particular was a real drag- really difficult to hold the pieces (I painted them before gluing them on) and I used different colours for different parts (which is a bit lost on the photos) so that took even longer. It was necessary though to avoid a sense of blandness with so much dull metal on the figure.

Thanks again for the comments and everyone who votes. I had a bit of a crisis of confidence with this model and wasn't sure how people would it, so thank you very much.
