Lemmingspawns Iron Warriors

Really great stuff there for any 40k chaoshugging player but for me (an Iron Warrior player) in particular.

Seeing his Ripley Defiler conversion got me itching BIG! Not being able to get the picture out of my mind I've decided that I'm going to have a go at.

I've already got an Defiler kit and soon I'll be starting assembly. If the end results gets anywhere near that badboy I'l be a very happy man indead.

Having finished my 1500pts army in basecoat. I'm going to treat myself to a big project.

I'll be posting my WIP here for C&C

Cheers,

Yup he's going to be a big un,

The last week I've been working on the legs. Although it's not that difficult (thank the dark gods for plastic) it takes lots of time to do it right.

Thanks to Lemmingspawns excellent WIP tread on his painting I've been able to put together wich bit where used.

Here are some pics from the legs with an humble Iron Warrior for scale purpose.

The back

ATM I'm working on the arms & torso. I've been having some trouble in what bits to use for the shoulders.

Cheers,

Thanks for the input Spacefrisian,

I'm getting along pretty nicely atm, yesterday I had a day off from work so got some work into it.

This project is going to be my main entry for the Call of Chaos III so I'll be posting some WIP there as well.

The right arm is near completion as is the torso. Right now I'm adding tubing & pistons to the model so far. Finally he's starting to look like something.

Tonight I'll be posting some more pics of how he's coming together.

Cheers,

but there is but room for variation also. i've got to make a defiler soon, so i will be watching this thread with interest

Heya folks,

As promised an pic update of my defiler.

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Vandael/WIPhullarm.jpg

Here is some WIP of the hull and arm I'm currently working on.

As you can see I've used the Daemonhunters daemonhost for pilot. Some electronic and guitarwire are the only parts used besides the two GW-kits.

@ Erik Crowbreat:

I know what you mean. I'll probebley will use the leftover Defiler feetbits to fasion a powerclaw or something.

Cheers,

C&C welcome

Heya all,

Construction is on it's way as you all can see but I'm a bit stuck on the finishing touches. So I'm reaching out here for some input.

I'm still wondering what to do with the tophatch. Should I:

- Put on one of the Defilers Daemonheads

- Add some powerplant thingy (as in the Lemmingspawn one)

- Put a Havoclauncher on it

- Any other ideas?

I've almost finished the left battlecannon arm, so I'll beposting some WIP of that as well for opinions.

Thanks in advance,

I'd probably go for a havoc launcher, but i'm amazed. I think i'm saving this thread and the link for Lemingspawn's for when my defiler magically appears...

Keep going, and the WIP pics are cool. I love what you've done with the daemonhost and the chain, makes it real scary and extra eeeeeevil....

@ Chaos Lord Shamrockius: thanks for your reply.

Here's a quick update,

I've been working on the left arm mostly.

The reign of Defiler bits is over here. In order to get this done I used cities of death, dreadnaught & vindicator bits.

The arm is almost finished. The main thing I'm going to add is a battlecannon chainfeed made from demolisher shells.

Behold, tha BIG GUN!!

C&C welcome, and I still need some more opinions on the top.

Hello you all,

Here is a major update on my Daemonic Deathengine. He's just about finished now, I only need to add some green stuff here and there in order to fill some gaps. All in all I'm very pleased at how this badboy turned out so far.

I also need to make a base for the model and a sturdy one. The Battlecannon makes him top heavy so I'll probebly pin him.

He stands about 7 inches tall, will this be tall enough to field him as a Chaos Knight-Paladin in Apocs games?

Enough mumbling, on to the pics!

Thats about it so far any C&C before I finish up and Prime him for painting?

That is phenomenal. If I am honest, when I first saw just the legs, I was a bit dubious as they didn't strike me as 'solid', but when you put it all together it looks amazing, and looks really dynamic. I also like the battle cannon shell loader thingy :)

Wow thanks for the nice replies everyone :)

I was surprised myself in how well it turned out in the end. But the real credit goes to Lemmingspawn and all other fellow-modellers who inspired me to make this. There is no way I could have made this two-legged beast without the excellent 'templates' from everyone out there. And of course there is the niggling deadline for the Call to Chaos III that puts an extra edge in my motivation.

Creating this standing Defiler was a joy. If I ever dicide to do a project like this again I'm going to sort a bitbox before I'll start! I spend most of my time finding bits in my bitbox wich was really a pain. I'd almost wish GW would make these kits themselves so I wouldn't have spend so many time in converting it :P

There would be an update here right now of the base but when near the end of construction I ran out of glue :( !! By the end of the day I'm gonna get some and post a pic of it. Then it's on to the painting.

Thanks again,

Vandael

are you going to do a Black-Widow fast asault defiler?

because lemmingspawn's was really good, and if you can make a ripley defiler, you can probly make anything...

but anyway, Updates!

looking forward to the base also, because it needs to be realy good now

Hello again,

To Erik Crowbreath:

I'm not planning on doing an Tarantula Defiler (although they look cool), I've still got a whole a lotta Black legion waiting to be turned into Iron warriors after this one.

As promised earlier today, the base:

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a377/Vandael/WIPbase.jpg

I know, not as impressive as the Defiler but it's way better (and bigger) than any other base I've made. And is a sturdy one wich keeps the model upright!

It's fastend, he's primed...

Onto the painting!!

Cheers,

Vandael
