Pirate Brushes
Hey-hey This is the first time I've properly posted pictures of an army for Warhammer 40,000. There's always been the odd model or two (some of you may have seen some of my models on the Conclave), but I finally thought I should see what everyone thinks of my army. I've always liked the Red Scorpions - not so much their colouscheme, but their background. They remind me slightly of the pre-heresy Death Guard, only without the obvious fall into corruption. Hopefully I will be running a 40K campaign in my local GW based in the Antioch sector. However, I decided I needed a new army other than my rarely used Blood Ravens. So, I bought some Red Scorpions off of my friend (who changes armies as much as he does his pants) and set to work, and this is what I did: Tactical Squad Doran, 3rd Squad, 2nd Company under Captain Aximius http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SpaceDug2005/SquadDoran1.jpg This was the first squad I finished. I use the Siege of Vraks rules for the Red Scorpions to give my Tactical Squads Apothecaries, although there will only be two squad with Feel No Pain goodness. Sergeant-Apothecary Doran began life as the helmetted metal Apothecary. With a broken set of clippers later he was in modified MKIV plate with his trusty power fist. WIP: Tactical Squad Turk, 4th Squad, 2nd Company under Captain Aximius http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SpaceDug2005/SquadTurk1.jpg Squad Turk is currently WIP. This Tactical Squad will also have another Sergeant-Apothecary as part of it, however Turk and then tenth space marine are still waiting to be fully assembled and painted. The squads were named after the 2 young doctors from Scrubbs, Chris Turk and John "JD" Dorian after a friend of mine pointed out that two powerfist-totting Apothecaries reminded him of the high-fiving duo. I also have a converted Chapter Master, Carab Culln, to post, but I rapidly lost light whilst taking pictures, and I'm unsure how to adjust the settings on my new digital camera. Damn you auto-adjust. C&C would be nice. ~ Aximand Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164785-hammer-of-antioch/ Share on other sites
lord_bunny
isn't Antioch the holy hand grenade that Monty Python coverts so much? If so; ^_^ They look fantastic ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164785-hammer-of-antioch/#findComment-1938274 Share on other sites
Ferro
I love seeing more Red Scorpions out there... but these pics are kinda hard to see. They look good, but I'd like to be able to see them better. In any case, good work chapter brother. Pirate Brushes
Thanks guys! As I mentioned, I got a new camera not that long ago, and I'm still trying to work out how to fully use it. There were a lot worse pictures than these. Camerea's without an obvious macro setting are crap :S Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164785-hammer-of-antioch/#findComment-1938302 Share on other sites

Pirate Brushes
Sure thing, WorryWort The grey is a 75-25 mix of ChaosBlack and AdeptusBattlegrey. This was then drybrushed with 50-50 ChaosBlack and AdeptusBattlegrey and another 25-75 drybush of ChaosBlack and Adeptus Battlegrey. Pure AdeptusBattlegrey was then highlighted on, followed by extreme highlights of CodexGrey. The armour was then washed liberally with BadabBlack The yellow was just IyandanDarksun blended up to 50-50 IyandanDarksun and SkullWhite, followed by a careful wash of GryphonneSepia. Pirate Brushes
I lost a lot of daylight today with exam revision and senior prize giving at school, but I did my best with a couples of lamps and a sheet of white paper (woot!). Squad Doran - New pictures, now in focus! http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SpaceDug2005/Red%20Scorpions/SquadDoran4.jpg And a line-up of Doran's combat squad http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SpaceDug2005/Red%20Scorpions/SquadDoranCombat.jpg Squad Turk - All built but not quite finsihed http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SpaceDug2005/Red%20Scorpions/SquadTurk2.jpg And a slightly darker line-up http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SpaceDug2005/Red%20Scorpions/SquadTurkCombat.jpg All of these pictures were taken at about 8pm, so there was buggerall in natural lighting, so quality may be low (but in focus, and that's a good ting ;) ) Finally, the supremem commander of my army Supreme Commander of the Chapter, Carab Culln http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SpaceDug2005/Red%20Scorpions/SupCommCulln2.jpg And with flash: http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r82/SpaceDug2005/Red%20Scorpions/SupCommCulln1.jpg Culln was a competition entry into my GW's "Convert a Chapter Master" contest run over Christmas break (if I remember correctly). Basically he is based on Doghouse's Gothic-pattern marines with a few Red Scorpion components. The entire idea behind the army is to have a no-nonsense, practical but individual army. There's no banners, no cloaks or any jazz like that. Each Astartes' armour is personalised in some way, be it scriptures, placement of squad numbering and company logos (similar to the Dark Angels in design, but they stll go by the Codex). Each marine has his own variation of the Tactical Markings, some like the Dark Angels, some are just outlines, others are normal or just in a different place than the rest! What d'ye guys think?
