Space Wolves Army

Crimson Fang

Recommended Posts

These are a few Space Wolves that I have been working on - comments greatly appreciated!

The first is a Wolf Guard Battle Leader:

The next is a Wolf Guard Battle Leader on a bike - the picture really doesn't do it justice. I just can't seem to get a good picture of it!

It's always nice to see fellow Wolves here!

I'm not a huge fan of how dark the armor is, and the armor itself looks rather dirty. I like your golds though.

Clean the armor up a little, and look to add in some brighter colors! The deep, dark reds look good on their own, but combined with similarly dark blue/grey armor they really melt away. Try a brighter red or some bright yellows to give the army a bit of contrast and help them "pop" on the table.

Keep it up!

I'm not one to complain about technique. If the end result looks good and it works for you, then by all means do it. But as a general rule of thumb: don't drybrush marines; it smacks of laziness, and very rarely does it turn out looking good.

Master the basics, learn to get a clean basecoat and crisp highlights. Washes will help define crevices and armor joints. Your marines will look infinitely better in the end, and your painting skill will develop over time.

With that said, a striking color scheme, and when not drybrushed, could look very impressive.
