Grey Mage
So Im not much of a rules lawyer... I dont look for these things, but I was in my shop today looking at the witchhunters codex for my new unit of valkyries... mmm seraphim are fun, and I noticed something. You can take daemonhunters and witchhunters as allies. Theyre seperate sets of allies too... so thats a total of 2 Elite, 4 troops, and 2 FA we can take if we really wanted to. After doublechecking my status on my winged women I decided to drool over the vindicaire stats for an apocalypse game coming up... and noticed something: I need an inquisitor or an inquisitor lord to take him. Well yeah, we all know that... but theres something missing? It doesnt say that the inquisitor has to be from the same ordos book as the assassin. Wich means, if Im not horribly mistaken I can take an inquisitor in my elites and an assassin from the other book in my elites. Im not really looking at doing this, mostly because I already use those slots regularly thank you but I thought Id toss it out here and see what people thought. JEFF4i
Well, for an Apoc game I don't think many people would much care anyway, since most FOC rules are out the window anyway. G. A. K.
I've heard of dooing that myself (I think someone posted it on this site). It all seems fine to me. I still don't think you should need an assassin and an inquisitor anyway. I've had the assassin codex for years and there isn't any mention of it in there. I think i'm the only one who thinks that the whole inquisitor thing only applies to either demaon or witch hunter armies specifically. Its not like everyone was over-using assassins anyway. But since I never really used them when I could, I don't care if people say I can't now. Grey Mage
Well its on the little sidebars next to the assassin fluff, says they need an inquisitor or inquisitor lord. Ullr Direfang
I've had the assassin codex for years and there isn't any mention of it in there. i under stand how yo feel about using the assassins, but i am 99% sure the the assassins codex is out of date and not supposed to be used. so one has to abide by the DH or WH rules for the assassins. G. A. K.
Thats what everyone keeps telling me :D . I just like to look at it differently I guess. Since the codexes info is copied exactly into the other two books (except they added death cult assassins). Like I said, I didn't use them when I could, so I'm not hurting for them now that I can't. On a related topic, ie. the one on this tread, you can not use two diffent books to get your inquisitor and your assassin. It is stated in each of the official faqs on the subject (also the inatfaqv2.1). Sorry, no assassins for the wolves I guess. However jeff4i is right that Apoc has it's own rules so you can use the assassins all you want in that game. There is even a new datasheet on the website for using formations of three (or more) of the same assassin as a group (with increased benifits) Too bad there is no benifit to using one of each, as thats all I have.
