KiltedMarine
On building a list for an upcoming tourney, an odd thought occurred to me. We have to purchase WG as a separate Elites Choice, then assign them out to squads as pack leaders (if that's how we choose to use them). Other chapters simply get the sergeant as part of the purchase price of the squad. Do WGPLs count as part of the unit to which they are assigned for determining kill points in games that utilize that rule? Or are they all treated as one unit, and to get that point you have to kill all of them? Or, ::shudder:: does each one somehow count as an IC for kill point purposes? Is this a situation anyone else has gotten a ruling on? The most logical answer to me is that they're basically VSs, and should be counted as part of the squad to which they're assigned, but what I think is most logical doesn't always translate in 40K terms... Yeti
This has been haggled to death in previous threads ... The general concensus among the Wolves is that they are part of the unit and therefore do not count as a separate KP. Remember that KP are based on units and not FOC slots. Also, the WG is not an IC. KiltedMarine
Thanks for the clarification. Doesn't help my army composition score, unfortunately, but does set my mind at ease about KPs... WG Vrox
Be aware that there are special missions out there for some RTT that give extra points for killing all elite choices, troop choices,,,,, in this case your oppenent would have to kill all WG in your list to get the extra points for killing all eliete choices. Grey Mage
Yeah, but for standard kill points, and objective holding they are in all ways a part of that squad... wich means they can hold objectives. The only questionable area is if you take a WGPL for a GH squad and give him MotW, does he count as scoring? I say no. Because you technically purchase a wolfgaurd and then at the deployment phase assign each WG to their pack. In tournies for instance you can switch with leader goes with who... though most people tailor their WG a bit for the squad theyre running with and thus wouldnt, its still how it works. Spacefrisian
It would be so much easier if anyone just threw the killpoints thing out of the window and replaced it with victory points. They did it at our local tourney, and now we also use that in friendly games.. Grey Mage
We tried that at my LGS, it caused alot of complaints. What would be really nice is if they erratta'd their KP system for the loose spots in a codex... or if people were more polite about it.
