JEFF4i
Okay, so I got a little extra money and couldn't resist getting a Shadowsword/Stormlord box. Sitting right beside me. But, there's 6 options, and I'm actually playing an Apoc game, 3v3 3000 points a piece a week from Sunday. My question is, which type would compliment the Wolves the best? Stormlord is pretty anti-infantry and sweet, but, is that really a compliment to the Wolves? I could always pack in a few Land Raiders beside a Shadowsword and just go Stompa (WILL be facing a Stompa at least) and armour hunting, while my Wolves run amock ahead of the rest. Or I could go Basilisks, Shadowsword, Land Raiders, and Hydras, and stick my units in a Pod formation. That's my question, of the 6 tanks this thing can be built into, what do you guys recommend? Yes, I've read the Baneblade Tactica, and that has helped influence me, but I trust my Wolf-Brothers the most! SJumppanen
If only one then take Shadowsword. If you bought more, then start considering other, like that artillery tank. Ullr Direfang
are the rules for all the different types in reloaded? i haven't seen what any of them can do so i can't really say. the antitank of the shadowsword word be great for the wolves, but it there are weapons that can hurt tanks and are good at infantry squishing then i would probably go for that model. Ryzouken
best answer for any army: take the Baneblade that is best able to deal with superheavies. Reason being, with very few exceptions, a superheavy beastie or construct can usually take on most of a conventional army. It makes the most sense to kit your superheavy for fighting other super heavies, since you'll know when you bring your superheavy, they'll be bringing theirs. That said, I do love me some Heavy 30 Vulcan Bolters... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164996-apoc-tactica/#findComment-1941201 Share on other sites
JEFF4i
Well, it'll just be the 1 for now, and I'll be playing with someone who'll field 3 Baneblades, so initially I want to use something different. However, I'll be doing some Apoc battles alone, so I'm thinking Shadowsword. Hfran Morkai
I reccommend a Shadowsword with maybe a guard compliment (you might not have it in time) this way it is fluffy as the guard would be happy to lend a superheavy to any chapter needing one but some guard would be cool. This is what I'm planning on doing. Especially with plastic Valkryies. The shadowsword will be able to deal volcano death to any superheavies. Grey Mage
Shadowsword is a good bet. Gives you a nice punch against superheavies... and if you soften it up with a pack of long fangs or a couple of predators first you can take out a titan with that thing. BS 4 means you can field it as a "marine" tank... I forget what theyre called though. JEFF4i
Yeah, it's going to be a Shadowsword. Absolutely no idea how I'll end up painting it, as I'll want good fluff for it and why a Guard regiment would assist with something that nasty, but looking at this... Drop Pods and forward assault with Grey Hunters/Blood Claws/Termies, y'know, melee stuff meanwhile... Shadowsword, 2 Preds, 2 Basilisks, 2 Land Raiders, A Vindicator, and LRE sit back and pound away. Seems decent enough, and should be fun to play. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/164996-apoc-tactica/#findComment-1942200 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
FELLBLADE! Thats what its called. As a ex-legion, wed be one of the most likely of all chapters to own a fellblade. Consider that with the ability of our Iron Priests to house new equipment on old chassi, like when we made the predator annihilator... and it can have BS 4, so its crewed by marines.
