(Even More) Feral World Eaters

Recommended Posts

Evenin' everyone! Iv finally decided to settle on doing a Feral World Eaters Army. So lots of fur, even more trophies etc.

Here are the first 5 of my first Berserker squad...Notice the Beastmen parts iv used as opposed to some parts of Power Armour...

Yes, i know the greenstuff is quite rough at the moment but it all be filed down in due course. :D

Also notice the Ork Powerclaw on the Aspiring Champion.

Comments (Good & Bad) will be appreciated and tips on how to improve.

Cheers!

Cheers guys. I think I will try to sculpt some hair on the champion. I say try because my greenstuff skills are still at an early stage, its a good job fur coats dont have to be 'neat' looking...:D

On legitamizing the 3+ save: In the last set of rules Khorne Berserkers had Feel No Pain. As they no longer have that as a rule, I think im ok in saying that thier increased lust for battle drives them throught the pain and even when they are seriously hurt. Thats the best I can think of at the moment. ;)

Iv just thought of a new reason for thier 3+ save: Due to them living in the wild, the Berserkers have had to hone thier physical attributes alot more than conventional World Eaters including thier agility. So this increased ability to dodge some ranged and close combat attack combined with the parts of Power Armour on the model, I think warrants the save.

Which reason to people prefer? or which one is more viable?

Also, the other 5 Berserkers are on the way...

Cheers.

i don't see any prblem with you needing to 'legitamize' the save, when painted they'll clearly be khorne berserkers and will look cool... no problem on my account :)

the rule of cool should override alotof things in my opinion, and providing i know what they are going to be hitting me with and you don't suddenly say the banner is actually a power fist in disguise then i don't think most people will have a problem.. now the models...

The first guys head is ok, i think it's just sitting a bit high...i think the head on the second just looks odd... might b the pictures but it really doesn't seem to work... some of the greenstuff is a bit on the rough side but a yu said your new to sculpting and its fur so thats ok, the more practice you get the better you'll become... the forearm of the fourth (the guy between the powerfist and banner) looks a bit too long but again that could be the camera angle... also i would personally change the way the banner is facing. i think if it was facing out from his body rather than across it then it would look more natural but thats personal preference so you might not wish to do that...

i also think you've got some very good and characterfull conversions going on there with a great sense of movement in alot of the models. also a very nice mix of parts, te nob powerclaw for instance is a very good look for khorne. the use of beastmen parts will also ensure you have a distinctive and flavourful unit on the bttlefield... very well done there, and i look forward to seeing more...

How about the old well used reason; the warp, its somehow changed their skin into a rock hard layer which shrugs off all but the most devastating weaponry. \kinda like an evil, blood covered, axe weilding and crazy superman squad running at you, screaming for your skull, not nice.

The conversions are great, look v wild

that one's pretty good~bit of a catachanish thing going there, i hope you don't like, rethink these guys i was just curious, the idea that the warp is what made their skin rock hard is a good idea

Very awesome, but in relation to the title, when aren't World Eaters feral?

I though the excact same thing when I saw the title. :D

good idea, great job on it so far, and I wouldn't mind the lack of PA as they're clearly mad and chaotic anyway.

good job mate..

Thanks everyone for comments. The other 5 squad members will be up tomorrow eve. I was just thinking about colour for fur and skin and how I can get them to compliment the red and bronze of the armour. I was thinking possibly pale purple skin and white fur. The bases are going to be covered in snow so the fur should match the landscape i reckon. ^_^

Do people have any possible suggestions for colours for the fur and skin?

cheers.

Here are the rest of the Berserker Squad along with a group photo...

Please let me know what you think. I know the greenstuff-ing is messy but I am still inexperienced in the use of it. Hopefully il get better with practice.

Also I could REALLY use some suggestions on colours to sue for the fur and skin which will both compliment the red and bronze of the armour.

Cheers...

...now where is that black primer...

AWESOME.

any way for the fur,I'm not great with Colours but paint them in the same way Space Wolves do,That way it add to their savage look.

"where did you get the fur?"

"killed me a whole mess a Space Wolves,*sound of chainblade sawing through bone*,now next Skull."

Right, so iv started painted the first of the Berserkers. Here is all of the red armour done on it...

If anyone cares its Mercrite Red, then a layer of Red Gore.

The highlights are-

1: 75% Red Gore, 25% Orange mix

2: 50% Red Gore, 50% Orange mix

3: Pure Orange

Also, I have decided on doing the fliesh a darkened colour and the fur white. Il try these out later on today and post the results.

As this is one of the most important parts of my army I would GREATLY appreciate any comments you guys may have on the red.

Cheers.

Painting looking good, but i have 2 things that i think you can improve.

1: the head of the one you're painting is a bit to high, me thinks.

2: The fur could be greatly improved with but a search in the tutorials forum. Fur is actually really simple to do good.

Right, so I havent had alot of time to paint. Iv nearly finished the first Berserker, just some of the details left...

Iv painted the fur white as I love the idea of my 'warband' roaming the icy wastelands. So im going to cover the bases in a thick snow.

Also, i have noticed the mould lines after starting the painting, but rest assured that I WILL file these off prior to painting the other Berserkers:D

Any comments, criticisms, suggested improvements wud be just dandy...-_-

Cheers!

 Great job mate!! The feral warband roaming an ice world sounds awesome, cant wait till their finished! As for suggestions, if you havent already planned a lord for them you could easily say the guy with the twin headed pole-chainaxe thing is a Khorne lord with a deamon weapon. Also, maybe consider a paler skin tone, they have been on an ice world after all

Cheers Lucius! About the skin; I was going to go with apale skin colour but then realised if I wated to go with an arctic fur then to compliment it I would have to go with a darker skin. So I am using the excuse that the bodies of Space Marines dont feel the cold like normal humans so the circulation of blood would be normal...:P...sorry, best I could think of!

Does anyone have any comment on the white fur? I want to know if i fits with the rest of the model.

Cheers

When I saw the fur unpainted, I thought it might be a flesh pelt, perhaps carved from a recent victim? For a good fur effect, it may need a bit more texture added. This post (click) has an example of a more textured look.

On the other hand, how about just switching the color scheme on them to blood covered, pallid flesh tone? Either way, your models are unique and cool. Great work, and good luck.
