Ryzouken
congratulations on the victory over the greenskins! Still not enough warm bodies in that list for my tastes, but it seems you were able to pull through. Was Ragnar of particularly significant use to you? He feels a little expensive. JEFF4i
At 175 he isn't bad, especially when coupled with melee grey hunters. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165167-orks-seem-pretty-unbeatable/page/2/#findComment-1946428 Share on other sites
Wena
Ragnar is great in my opinion... With the 10 Grey Hunters that's 46 attacks on the charge (7 FB and 3 PF) and 47 on the counter charge and WS4 so not so many die like Bloodclaws do in CC. Jumping out of a LRC makes it even more fun  Regardless, because I started the league with him I have to use him as part of my 1250 pts... Ryzouken
Redacted on account of the following. Good Catch! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165167-orks-seem-pretty-unbeatable/page/2/#findComment-1946607 Share on other sites
OnlyInDeath
Math's off there. Each Grey Hunter has 3 attacks at maximum, Power Fists only get two. Total # of attacks should be somewhere in the 30s. (all numbers assume charge/countercharge attack bonus) You are forgetting Ragnar gives a unit he joins +2 attacks on the charge. For combat equipped GH's, that means they get 4 goin in or on the counter. Ryzouken
Oh, wow. I didn't realize he spread it to the unit. I misread it all this time, instead believing it DIDN'T spread to the unit. I might just have to start running Blackmane a bit. He'll give my unit of Grey Hunters the punch I've been missing. Krave
I don't have my codex on hand, but doesn't the bonus work as an assault bonues, ie, it can't be combined with True Grit? On the other hand, put him with some WG w/LC and then charge the Orks, that ought to be fun. Ryzouken
Or just, y'know, leave the bolters at home. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165167-orks-seem-pretty-unbeatable/page/2/#findComment-1947602 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Yeah, I dont know why people diss on CC GHs, after all theres a reason bolters are optional. Valerian
Oh, wow. I didn't realize he spread it to the unit. I misread it all this time, instead believing it DIDN'T spread to the unit. I might just have to start running Blackmane a bit. He'll give my unit of Grey Hunters the punch I've been missing. I play Ragnar's company, so this tactic is pretty much a given. He always either goes with Grey Hunters armed for close combat, or TDA equipped WGBG (he gives these guys +2 attacks on the charge too!), which is nice for a Drop Pod assault. Spacefrisian
I found a more simple way. Take some cheap Rhino's (for 35 points they are worthy of being sacrificed. Take the Flamer for every unit. Now when you are playing move the Rhino's (max movement)forward like a wall with the units behind them. Now when the Orks Charge they have to charge the Rhino's first. If they destroy them they are at 1 place and if the rhino survives (most likely not) you can drive them together even better with Tankshock. After that has been done you only need to prepare the Grills and start flaming the nicely packed Orks, followed up with a good old charge.
