tor
Hail Brothers, I hadn't played a game since 2nd edition until just recently some friends got together and decided we should revive the old days. After stomping some 'nilla marines with some other 'nilla marines I decided I should bring back my Space Wolves. Only problem is I'm going to need to repaint them and this time I'd like to cut out the yellow shoulder pads (both squad and company) and pick a new company with symbol. I haven't read the space wolf books so i don't know if there is any awesome fluff I should know about to pick the new company. Can anyone here help with some fluff or some arguments about how awesome their great company symbol is to sway me towards one. tor
Thanks for that, I was just kinda hoping for some more fluff about what the wolf lords are like or if there is any difference between the great companies, i.e. The Ironwolf company using more tanks or Redmaw using more blood claws. Hfran Morkai
Unfortunately I have not been exposed to that sort of SW fluff. However the point behind the Great Companies is to mainly except for Blackman'e company make up your own fluff. I mean I've even named my company as Fenrir Wulfheart's no mention but specializes in orbital drops. Currently he is a blood claw though and as he survives more games he will get promoted! stinkenheim
yeah as far as i know they never specified any specific style of composition or assault the different wolf lords secialize in... basically your free to do whatyou want... don't forget each great company is meant to be fairly self sufficient and so they should be equally adept at most styles of war, however if you want to specialise in boarding actions, sieges, trench warfare or whatever there is nothing stpping you setting up your company to be like that... @Mikal... cool name for your wolf lord... i did the same thing in my previous space wolf army... Alwor Tal'set was a lowly grey hunter to begin with then rose through the ranks untl the one time Erik Morkai died in battle and his replacement was ready... made a nice touch... Grimfoe
I think that most of us just make up a new Wolf Lord and our own fluff. Here is my pack marking for Jugger Grimfoe's great company: It's pretty easy to paint and I can give you some pointers on the technique if you like it. I based the wolf off the RT wolf transfer. tor
Thanks for the help guys and I appreciate the offer Grimfoe but I think at the moment I'm leaning towards Morkai Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165200-shoulderpads/#findComment-1945107 Share on other sites
Grimfoe
Thanks for the help guys and I appreciate the offer Grimfoe but I think at the moment I'm leaning towards Morkai That will look cool, but it'll be difficult to get two wolf heads to be symmetrical on the same badge. I wish you luck. If you'd like, I can still provide you with a sketch of the wolf totem I used as it is a somewhat geometrical and easily created. It may be less difficult to make this particular badge symmetrical. WG Vrox
Thanks for the help guys and I appreciate the offer Grimfoe but I think at the moment I'm leaning towards Morkai Difficult symbol to paint but the transfers look really good, I went with a Yellow / Grey on the left pauldren to ensure the wolf's heads could be seen easily. Though it's not Ragnar's Great Company, I like the look of yellow on the battlefield and balanced it out with yellow on the right. I may add some red soon when I get my pack markings figured out. http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq71/WG_Vrox/ArticStorm-9.jpg WG Vrox.
