ArmouredWing
Hey there folks, how's it going out there? So we inquisition plyers stand on the eve of another new codex being released and we're in the priviliged position of being able to look forward to employing these new troops in our quest to purge the empire of the mutants, heretics and daemons. So the question is, what allies have you found to be worthy of inquisitorial employment (from the recent marine codex release) and what are you looking forward to fielding when the opportunity arises with the release of the forthcoming codex: imperial guard? Be interested to hear your tales. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165368-allies/ Share on other sites
Prathios
I think I speak for a good number of people when I say this; Valkyrie Transports!!! I must have them, they will be mine. If I use my current IST as "counts as" IG units and then for fluffy reasons say they "count as IST's again just for SaG" I will be in heaven. Although I can see myself after a couple of games deciding not to use the AP3 hellguns cause it doesn't make sense to me and might feel a little broken. But the main thing is Valkyrie's!!!! I'm getting two on day one! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165368-allies/#findComment-1945951 Share on other sites

Peredyne
Rule of cool, my friend. I've never had an issue with someone using new toys as long as it made sense for the army in question to have them. My house rules are to update rules to the most recent changes, regardless of where the rule change came from. An inquisitor's personal army all in Valks? Makes perfect sense to me. RULE OF COOL! And I figured for the sake of tourny's and such to train myself to use the official rules now. However with the valks being added officially to the 5e rule set everything is all good now. Plus its a plastic kit which saves me money! To be honest though I'm breaching that rule set with my Black Templars dreadnough chaplain. My Tau friend wants me to use him as a veny with no extra rules but I printed the rules off the site and its not broken or unbalanced or anything crazy like that, so if he demands I not use him I just wont play with him :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165368-allies/#findComment-1946237 Share on other sites

jakehunter52
Well, I think that IG platoons are going to be a real bargain. Unlike before, you can now include heavy weapon squads, special weapon teams and most importantly....conscripts. Sentinels are getting updated rules, weapons and point costs. Orders can be used, in albeit small but important ways. Leman Russ got tougher and better since it can fire more than one weapon on the move. All of these are significant improvements to what we could of taken and fill many gaps. The new SM codex wasn't as significant because they didn't receive the customization that is available to Guard but instead got new rules. Specifically talking, I think Guard can fill in many gaps in a DH or WH list. Conscripts and basic squads can make for great road bumps for CC, mobile cover for your expensive PAGK or 20 some sister squads or even tarpits (thanks to the ability to merge squads) when you include an Inquisitor or Cannoness. Multiple heavy weapon teams can serve as a great way to get anti-tank abilities at long range without having to resort to taking a Dreadnought or Exorcist. And the best part about this is that it is cheap. You can easily enhance your army for a fraction of the cost and still have a large majority of it be the parent list, so that way you maintain the feel of your DH/WH army bringing reinforcements. Brandon
I personall am looking forward to the new IG codex. I use a good bit of Inducted guard with my WH. Right now I have 2 Armored fist squads, a 55 man platoon that I plan on adding special weapon squads to , and a squad of 3 sentinels. I have a resins Valkyrie with inquisitor doors that I use as a trasport for my Inquisitor lord sometimes, but with these new plastic Valks coming out, I think I am going to buy 1 for each of my 3 Inquisitorial storm trooper squads. One other thing that i think is pretty juicy is the equipment that is rumored to be coming to Storm troopers in the new Gaurd codex. In particular the new "Hotshot lasgun/laspistol" stats gets me pretty excited! Unless I am reading it wrong it looks like it will be STR3, AP3! Wow, Our Inquisitorial storm troopers are modeled from the IG storm troopers and if we get goodness like this I will be a happy camper! ***Copied from Warseer IG rumors**** Stormtroopers 5-10 men, 16 pts each. Hotshot Lasgun, Hotshot Laspistol, CCW, Frag and Krak. Deep Strike. Can take 2 special weapons. Sgt can take Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Melta Bombs. Can take Chimera. 'Special Ops' Special Rule picked before battle gives a bonus to one of the two deployment types: Behind Enemy Lines - Scout and Infiltrate + first round of shooting causes Pinning Recon - Scout and move through cover Arial Assault - Re-roll to scatter dice for Deep Strike and Valkyrie disembarks Stormtrooper Sergeant 3 4 3 3 1 3 2 8 4+ Stormtrooper 3 4 3 3 1 3 1 7 4+ Hotshot Lasgun 18 3 3 Rapid Fire Hotshot Laspistol 6 3 3 Pistol *****end copied text***** Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165368-allies/#findComment-1947239 Share on other sites
Grand Master Tyrak
Wow, Our Inquisitorial storm troopers are modeled from the IG storm troopers and if we get goodness like this I will be a happy camper! ;) We don't. :P If GW are unwilling to fix everything else in our codex, there's no way they'll give us these. On the other hand, ours are scoring. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165368-allies/#findComment-1947544 Share on other sites
jakehunter52
Ah man! So I just got a look at the guard codex. All the leman russ choices are a single entry. That means the 5 template plasma cannon spitter of doom is ours for the taking. Or the tank busting Vanquisher. Or whatever. Only problem I see with it is says "Leman Russ Squadron". The wording for this makes it a super gray area since we are technically entitled to taking "Leman Russ Battle Tank". And this applies for Sentinels too, since they are now worded differently. Although, thinking about it now makes me a little :) cause we are getting tossed into the murky end, will end up being told that we can't do it because it is "unfair" and no compensation for our loss. *sigh* Here's to the new codex to give us life. (I shouldn't be complaining so much though because it's been ages since I used allies and really only am thinking about potential.)
