Brother Gothard
Question! If I give a Command Squad Bikes, may I still purchase a Drop Pod for them? I fully understand that they may not then USE that drop pod to enter play. My question concerns empty Drop Pods. Bonus, may I choose to not deploy in Drop Pods squads that have purchased Drop Pods as dedicated transport options? If it helps, WHY I would want to do this is because taking the Biker Command Squad means dropping another Drop Pod squad; but I want to keep my drop pod numbers high so that my first turn DPA is powerful. Bonus question: is it possible to say "Drop Pod" too many times? Bonus bonus question: if so, have I just done it? Cadarn
Technically this is not explicitly forbidden. However, it would certainly not be allowed in tourneys and you would make yourself very unpopular against anyone you tried it against. This goes for both questions. The one about saying drop pod too many times is allowed. I checked. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165398-commands-squads-bikes-and-drop-pods/#findComment-1947649 Share on other sites
Brother Gothard
Why would it not be allowed in Tournaments? Why would I be unpopular :( I simply thought it would be a fun way to block line of sight to the enemy while boosting my first turn drop pod assault! Anyway, THANKS! ;) Very funny post, by the way! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165398-commands-squads-bikes-and-drop-pods/#findComment-1947768 Share on other sites
nighthawks
Presumed to be disallowed as the unit you would be purchasing the pod for is bike-mounted and thus not able to board a transport. Unfortunately, the army list in C:SM allows for both options, so it is technically legal - though most see it as an oversight and its use as exploitative - thus the lack of popularity. chaplain_quint
exploiting loopholes is a guarantee for unpopularity at my store. It gives an advantage that was never ment to be one. Brother Gothard
Isn't it just as bad as taking a Razorback for a 10 man squad you have no intention of Combat Squadding? Frosty the Pyro
Isn't it just as bad as taking a Razorback for a 10 man squad you have no intention of Combat Squadding? I think the question was asked in an FAQ for a non-codex chapter and IIRC the theory is 4 of them could get shot, and then they would be able to fit in the rhino. On a side note, which is actualy just a glareing loophole, The space marine bike wargear does not change an infantry unit to a bike unit, so a command squad actualy could get into a drop pod as they are still unit type "infantry." This is a more extreme version of the loophole that lets a chaos lord with wings ride in transports. I think both should be errataed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165398-commands-squads-bikes-and-drop-pods/#findComment-1948964 Share on other sites
chaplain_quint
Isn't it just as bad as taking a Razorback for a 10 man squad you have no intention of Combat Squadding? nope, because if using common sense, the bikes do not get a droppod. by the way, if four of the squad die then the rest could enter the razorback.
