Renegade Space Wolves

How feasible would it be to have renegade space wolves fluffwise?

I know that they operate differently from regular chapters which could possible contribute to them turning renegade but also that they seem to value civilian life more so than normal marines?

Maybe they could turn against the imperium after a planet full of civilians was destroyed , would it be feasable to turn against the emperor but not "join" chaos?

Could this be covered as a Lost Chapter in fluff?

Sidenote: The old Chaos Space Marine codex showed Space Wolves that had joined the Red Corsairs.

Cheers

The only official renegade SW, are the ones captured by red corsiars and became chaos

or

mainly companies that dont swear legions to the current great wolf , which only makes them "Not SW" , but still Space marines and followers of Russ and the emperor (or if you want you can say they have "issues" with current section of the imperium such as the inquisition or a certain planet governor)

i think you might be looking for the later

a while back something like this came up. i am not the biggest fluff person here but i think whitewolfmxc is head on with it. most space wolf units/companies that go "renegade" just kind of go off to fight the enemy their way. they don't turn to chaos and they stay loyal to russ and the emperor. just something or some one has ticked them off enough that they don't want to truly be associated with the SW chapter.

It is said that in the wolf time, when russ returns, that all the space wolves from around the universe will return to fight by his side. considering that the SW chapter is the closest thing to a legion, just try to imagine if more companies just started coming out of the wood work. there is no way of know (unless i am wrong here) how many there are, but given the individualistic ways of the wolves, i am sure there is at least one for every few hundred years or so.
