Building a Grey Knights army

Ok,

So I've recently fell into some Grey Knights and started to build and army around them. I currently have:

3 x Justicars

3 x Incinerators

2 x Psycannons

16 NFW/SB guys

1 x GK Dread w/Plasma and incinerator

So - where to from here? I was thinking along the lines of the following:

A few more PAGK Psycannons

3 x 3 man termy squads, as follows:

BC w/Psycannon

GK Termy w/Psycannon

GK Termy

Also maybe some additional regular GK termies to give me options.

A Land Raider

A Las/ML Dread

So because GK are so uber expensive $$$ wise, I really want to plan my purchases well. I do want to have at least some options for a 2000pt list, even if they are just weapon swaps - but I don't want tp spend money on something that will be rarely used or just plain suck.

Also, I don't have any Gk termies yet so I'm not sure what would be involved, but I was thinkning of making my own Psycannon arms and magnetizing them - reducing the need to spend a ridiculous $20/model just for weapon options.

Thoughts/suggestions?

i'ld wait with the pagk with psycannons and throw in the termies in two squads with:

1 bc with psycannon and 4 termies

makes them a bit more survivable, also instead of 1 dread and 1 raider go with 2 dreads or 2 raiders. gives more flexibility to your units

I wouldn't try so hard to field so many smallish GKT units. I admit to liking the idea of small psycannon dakka teams, but it's a pretty expensive idea and it will come at the cost of your PAGK and heavy support count. While you can definitely get away with fielding multiple GKT units, I've never known a GK list to require/need more than a single unit in the form of the GK Hero and retinue. Beyond that, you're fielding GKTs just 'cause you like them so well and expect them to do the heavy lifting on the battlefield. Myself, I've always felt that GKTs are a luxury unit that is fun and effective, but the most solid GK lists are still built around the "humble" PAGK. These are the units that will win games for you.

Regarding heavy support, I still tend to favor using dreadnoughts, as they allow me to put more boots on the ground, but raiders are obviously an effective choice. They will give your army vastly superior mobility and a different kind of protection, but your list will be almost entirely dependent upon their survival. A lucky strike with a lascannon, railgun, melta weapon, lance weapon, etc. could spell your doom. I would recommend proxying models from friends for a few games to see what you like before committing any money.

I played a game vs Daemons last night using the mini-dakka Psycannon termy squads. I am now of the opinion that they are teh_suXX0rz. You are right - 1 x BC or GM with Psycannon + retinue with Psycannnon is going to be much more cost effective. I definitely felt like I was lacking in scoring units, so more PAGK FTW!!!

PS I hate Flamers!!!
