NemFX
Do it in parts.. Make a ball.. About the size of a 4mm bb. That's the shoulder. Then work from there.. War Angel
i need some wire or something, it will have to wait till i find a paper clip, in the meantime... all the GS i made is useless....i worked on it so long my sweat has destroyed it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165545-enduring-eagles-hear-the-call/page/3/#findComment-1986025 Share on other sites
-Q-
GreenStuff is all about timing. Don't use it right away after mixing, let it sit and firm up a bit. Put on the general shape then let it sit a bit. Come back to sharpen edges and details. Put it under a lamp to cure up and then in the freezer before you put your next layer of detail on (new GS on the cold will give you more work time. Cure overnight under a lamp and you can fine grit sand it the next day. Store excess in the freezer to work with on day 2, learn how it works and feels after that. Don't waste excess GS, experiment with it. Also you will often get the best results from the least working, so if you feel like you've been at a part too long, you are probably not working it at the right time in its life cycle, either too soon or too late. Not understanding the timing of GS use is the number one discouraging factor for new would-be sculptors. War Angel
Q,i took some of youre advice and ive used the GS to "place" the limbs, altering it slightly as i was working... and ill wait to add the bulk of it for the filling and sculpting for later. not sure i want to have a bunch of GS in my fridge when my sgt comes and does room inspections tomorrow... on another note.... i gave it another try (i still think its really dumb that i have to work so hard on them to get this pose, and i find it amazing that no one knew what i was talking about, but that really just fueled my fire that this needs to be done to demonstrate how supperior of a stance it would be in combat....) heres how far ive gotten... ill point out now, the torrso is not glued to the legs, the left leg was cut at the ankle, knee, and waist? both arms where cut bellow the shoulder, and at the arm.... i then cut off the right arm at the elbow at both sides, and did not use the upper arm(it just goes right to the shoulder from the elbow.... the foot is not attached to the leg yet, going to wait for the GS to cure so i can dig more of his leg out http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn74/Lastdogdead/004-3.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn74/Lastdogdead/003-5.jpg its times like this that i really wish i had that thing from indian in the cubard.... just give them a quick "hey, get in this stance" and close the door.... hell, i would only have to paint one before it would make him of that chapter, and then he could lead his brothers in a task to make sure all of there armor was desplaying the proper color's....OMG it would be SOO freaking easy!!!! War Angel
lets see.... tomorrow after work ive got feild day, then im driving to pick up my paintball gun for the weekend, and friday i have post all day.... so i MIGHT get a chance to work on building late sunday, but im going to be this is the last update for this week...and there will deffinitly be no painting...so heres what im thinking about making next..... sorry if its crappy http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn74/Lastdogdead/002-5.jpg its two marines, dont know if i'll have them in this squad, but one of them has a bag on his waist (probably as large as a feild medical kit) the other one is holding an aspex and punching at keys, while (same bag) is on the ground, with a little servo skull comming out of it!!! dont know if they'll be in the same squad, representing that the squad is used for searching rooms/caves/whatever you need a floating skull for (the possibilitys are endless) im wondering if i want them in my second company, i think i may use them in the fifth, seeing as that will represent more of a recon company. can i get some oppinions on this? War Angel
you all laughed and said it couldnt be done... well not really, but the people in tutorials kept saying this was impractical even for modern military, which is odd, because thats where i learned it. :D http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn74/Lastdogdead/003-6.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn74/Lastdogdead/004-4.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn74/Lastdogdead/005-3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165545-enduring-eagles-hear-the-call/page/3/#findComment-1993778 Share on other sites

(guideon's are the people in a platoon who carry the flag, they represent the platoon to a sense.... its a drill thing) how about them beans? second idea... well, idk. i think i'll put some kind of radio on the combat squad leader... idk why or maybe ill just put it on a random guy in the squad to represent if the squad has a telleport homer? stupid GW getting rid of aspex's....stupid lictors.... any whooo, throw out some idea's or comments on thoes guys... i know there not much, but thats the way i build em, if the weapons where on now, they'ed end up looking like crap, but would look better now.... War Angel
NemFX: the chapter symbol is actualy the USMC Eagle Globe and Anchor. Its a one headed Eagle. SRhino: Thanks, i really like it, though its going to be a hard model to paint, both of his arms are glued on and kinda restricting. maybe for another squad i'll have a model who looks like hes moving forword in that stance. not to happy about the turn out of that post i made in the tutorial though... there talking about scouts with cloaks now... NemFX
I came up with a good way to make short beaky helmets if your interested. You know, the little stealth kind that Shrike started? NemFX
6mm BB, some greenstuff. It works pretty well. Even better if you like to make hoods over the back of the helmets.
