Vassakov
Right, I may well be aquireing some Sternguard Veterans soon. Now, as an Ale swilling, skull cracking Son of Russ, I would ne'er dream of using the poncy Ultramarines codex to represent our hale and hearty warriors. However, Sternguard Veterans represent the pinacle of the standard Marine, Bolter and Warrior fused as one. Plus, they're alright in CC as well, what with 2A as standard and choice weapons for the Sergeant. However, these warriors still have no place in a standard Company of the Wolves. However, the Wolfblade are exiles, stationed on Terra to guard the House Belisarius. They must adopt unorthadox tactics in their service there, and will often be gifted with rare or exotic weapons by their rich charges. So, my question to you, brothers - If I wolf'd up some Sternguard, would it be fluffily acceptable to say they were operating as a House Belisarius taskforce in support of my Great Company during an Apocalypse battle? I don't want an answer "Well it's Apocalypse, so anything goes," because I prefer to play by the Fluff. "Would it be Wolfy to do this?" is more important than "Can I justify it obscurely by RAW?", at least to me. Thanks, and Ales to all! Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
sternguard not so much, but vanguard would make a good basis. elite, hard as nails in CC and a mix of weapons....sounds pretty wolfy to me. Gyson_Vore
I would say that the idea doesn't sound that bad. If the Wolves are fighting anywhere near a place the Belisarius feel like they need protected, or anyone, I'm sure they would let their bodyguards join into the fray with their brothers. It would also explain the wargear, since their employers are filthy stinkin rich. You could get a Sanctioned Psyker or Primaris Psyker to act as the Navigator they are protecting. (Maybe not for game use, but just to fit in with the theme) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165591-wolfblade-a-different-theme/#findComment-1949026 Share on other sites
Jonny Wolf
I dunno brother. 6 Grey Hunters= 2 Plasma Pistols 1 Flamer, Melta or Plasma Gun 2 Power Fists or 2 Power Weapons or 1 of each True Grit Acute Senses Counter Attack Add in a Wolf Guard that gets everthing but a Frost Blade.... Seems to me we're bad enough ourselves :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165591-wolfblade-a-different-theme/#findComment-1949039 Share on other sites
Vassakov
Wow - nice fast replies as ever. @ Wolf Lord Kieran - Yes, I can see the attraction of Vanguard too. However, from a full standpoint they aren't really as effective as Sternguard, especially when the rest of our list is considered. Plus, I don't like the models as much, and the guy I'm trading with has none anyway... @ Gyson-Vore - The Primaris Psyker idea is a nice one! I suppose to finish it I could throw in a Libraian (Rune Priest) with The gate of Infinate(-ly nicked from us) @ Jonny Wolf - They're strictly a fun, Apocalypse only unit. Plus, nothing says pain like 10 Combi Flamers with Vengence Rounds. Grey Mage
Id say go for it, and use a psychic inquisitor for the navigator. Sounds like a blast... maybe count the Psycher as a high command... givem counter attack keen senses and fearless.... now that would do the trick in apocalypse just fine.
