DevianID
So in the latest white dwarf that I got the bat. reps and rules for some IG are available. Now, that got me thinking about my grey knight army with allied guard, but switching the guard with the grey knights so that I have access to all the new stuff... which means--wait for it... Grey Knights in Valkyries!!! How awesome is this new book going to be for Grey Knights! I figure, 2 units of PAGK and 1 unit of terminators, all in valkyries! Throw in some veteran IG in carapace and chimeras to count as inquisitoral storm troopers, and season to taste! Plus, the commisar lord from the white dwarf looks like he would make a decent 'counts as' inquisitor to go with them, without having the book at hand to see if any other HQs would make a better inquisitor. What are your thoughts? It would be similiar to the 3 land raider lists we have now, but instead with rapid insertion from orbit via valkyries, which even let the models being transported deep strike to disembark! Yes, the armies are not 100% grey knights, but you still get lots of knights--just in good transports. Eldar, eat your heart out! Alanter
What is the big advantage of PAGK in Valkyries? Very fast in cc ---> no good Make dangerous test when disembarking ---> no good Not shooting, not use of their special rules (shrouding, aegis) At all I don't think that Valkyries will do more than put troops on objects in the last turns. The Vendetta with triple-tl-las could do some damage, but will recive even more. You can not compare this to LR, which are lumering shelters. DevianID
Well the vendetta perhaps is a better fit, but the rules for the vendetta were not found in the white dwarf, so I didnt discuss them. The idea of the valk + grey knights is that grey knights are actually pretty good in CC I hear, can take to incinerators to soften foes up, are troops, and you can assault the enemy on turn 1 (if not DOW) if that is what you like (and I like!). The idea of 3+ units of grey knights and grey knight termies assaulting their foes on turn 1 sounds awesome. Also, you dont take dangerous terrain from disembarking unless you choose to deepstrike out of a valk. If we are talking about rumored rules, then replace valks with vendettas, and add priests with evis to each grey knight squad for rerolls on the charge, and charge the enemies lines with grey knight fury on turn 1. On turn 1 you also have lots of twin linked las cannons and their like from the vendettas. If you dont like the prospect of the turn 1 charge, you can always go into reserve. It adds a new, more aggressive way to play Grey Knights other then sitting in land raiders all game, plus valkyries look awesome too.
