Justice for All
Went down to my local GW on Tuesday for vets night and managed to get a game. I used 2000pts of deepstriking goodness. I got turn one and dropped 3 pods all with locator beacons. Came to my opponents turn and he stated that he could use my locator beacons for his deepstrikes as the codex doesn't specify its friendly only. A number of other players backed him up. Me v them I couldn't be bothered argueing. Went with it and got my army beat. Not lost, especially that badly, for ages. I've checked GW FAQ and funnily enough they have an FAQ about war gear benefits and armies. It states that unless the rule says it works for your opponent then it doesn't. Am I missing the point and those guys were right or are they just inbreds who hate loosing? HiveFleetEzekial
Well you already answered your question, in your next to last line. The FAQ says they do not get the effect unless the rule specificaly says they do. In this case, it doesn't sday they do, so they don't. They were just trying to (and aparently did) cheat you. WarpSpawn
I would say they either have not read the FAQ or were disregarding it for some reason (deliberately or otherwise). Pre-FAQ, this was as bit hazy. Now, as long as you subscribe to GW's house rules, it is perfectly clear. So yes, you are right and they were wrong. Praeger
Dont consider them cheating - the FAQ isnt actually as well known as alot of people assume. Alot of GW staff have never even known it existed (not that surprising as it was not in every countries WD if any at all) Remeber - not everyone checks the GW web site (I know I never do) and so these types of things can go un-noticed for a VERY long time these days.....really wish they brought back the monthly WD FAQ updates :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165817-locator-beacon/#findComment-1951856 Share on other sites

Mal
Personally I print out the FAQ's for my armies, the rule book and when I know what im against my opponennts armies too... it saves arguments in teh long run if you can point out the rule in black and white. Praeger
Here in Australia i've NEVER seen an FAQ in the White Dwarf. Im actually from Sydney myself - and yes, back in 'dem oldie dayz, the WD used to have a quaterly rules update and FAQ (with normally each month a codex FAQ) and would have real stories, articles on how to fight "historic" battles, new ideas for tournaments games and units etc - but sadly this all went bye-bye around 2001 (aprx) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165817-locator-beacon/#findComment-1953917 Share on other sites
Thantoes
Its true, I only recently learned about the change in the vindicators cannon stats. Ive been using it as a barrage weapon (as per the new codex) for a while and it was lovely. Only learned about it after the FAQ had been out over a month.
