Custom Marine Chapter

Lansirill

Recommended Posts

I just finished up the grunts for my first tactical squad for this chapter except for the bases. The paint job is a lot coarser than I'd really like, especially on the armor (the robes I'm fairly happy with,) but I think I'm going to have to just accept that my first few units are going to look a little substandard since I'm just too impatient to get a project finished. Still, as far as tabletop quality goes I think they're spot on and that they look great at arm's length. Still have the sergeant, heavy weapon and special weapon models to go. Anyways, I just wanted to start a thread for my chapter so that I have somewhere to keep track of my progress. Comments are, of course, more than welcome. :P

(These links will probably break sooner rather than later, once I properly name everything... they work for now though.)

I like the paint scheme and I do not think they are substandard at all. Are these guys in the robes going to be your veterans or is the entire force going to be in robes? If you look at the Black Tempar Sword Brethren box you will find some more models in some nice looking Tabards which would fit in as well.

The M is supposed to half look like the TS thing, and half look like a pair of mountain peaks. :D

Yeah, the contrast on these photos didn't really turn out very well. The robes are a bit more brown than the photos suggest (although it's still a bit closer than I'd really like.) I'm going to try taking a better photo in the daylight when I get off work and see if the colors show better. If it still needs contrast I'm going to play around with either dark gray robes, or with keeping the robes more brown. Right now the final highlight is done with red, without any green mixed in. If I keep green in all the way up (hopefully) I'll keep enough contrast between the two reds (robe and armor) without losing the color I want. Gray would look good too though and if the darker brown doesn't work out I'll switch over to that (heck, I might give it a test paint just to see if I like it better.) I'm aiming for a subdued look though (despite the bright red armor) so I'm probably trying to walk a fine line. Eh, I have another 990 or so marines to perfect my style. <_<
