Working on my Fluff (Repansers)

Petite Francois

Recommended Posts

ORDER NAME.... The Holy Order of Saint Repanse de Lyonesse (shortened to 'Repansers' as a nickname)

ORDER FOUNDING... In Progress...year 999,M41

ORDER MASTER.......Hiero-Saint in Training 'Petite' Francois de Lyonesse

ORDER CONVENT... Convent Lyonesse

ORDER HISTORY......Planet Hovai, and the Hovaian star system are a sleepy backwater region of space. Hovai was recently rediscovered and the planets are thriving feudal agro worlds now in development. The Imperium is setting up house using planet Hovai as base, and trade and space commerce is beginning to occur. The Mineral rich moons are attracting fresh interest by xenos and pirates.

Convent Lyonesse is being populated by newly recruited Novices and is not yet baptized by fire. At the time of this recording, a mere 20 sisters are present to set up the Battle Mission houses.

As a gift from the Emperor, ancient relics from Terran Heiro-Saint Repanse de Lyonesse have been sent to the order. Remnants of the Saint's DNA reconstructed from a hair found on one of the Saint's relics was used as the base material to clone the chapter's Founder Hiero-Saint in Training 'Petite' Francois de Lyonesse. Francois is routinely monitored by the Inquisition, which hopes that she will exhibit some of the super human qualities attributed to her ancient ancestors. (Francois is represented by, and uses, the Saint Celestine special character rules in standard games. In friendly games she will be based on a previous edition of the Warhammer Fantasy Bretonnia rules for Repanse de Lyonesse.)

ORDER HOMEWORLD.. Planet Hovai in the Segmentum Tempestus Quadrant

Dear Bolter and Chainsword,

I am using your wonderful worksheet here and at Librarium Online to start working on my background fluff. Can you help me get it ready to submit for archiving here?

Some thoughts: I play Bretonnians, and love Repanse de Lyonesse. I want to assume a legend about her exists in 40K from ancient Terran history even though the games are not linked in terms of background. I am very new to 40K fluff, and don't know if cloning technology exists. My idea is to have my Order being created in present day 40K, as it lends a role playing aspect to collecting and painting my Sisters of Battle. Anyway, I welcome your questions, critiques, and comments!

Francois

Well "little Frank", your backround seems fine to me. Perhaps you could work in some fantasy conversions using IG allies ( rough rider "knights and infantry plt. "peasants").

As for some other issues, gene manipulation is the basis for a lot of 40k technology. All the Astartes for one! However, I'm not sure you can "make" a saint.

Look forward to seeing some models.

Hello, hello!

Thank you both for reading my fluff, and for replying:) Your opinions mean a lot to me! Hopefully I can apply to the Libre Ordo Minoris soon.

Here are some scans of my newly painted models. I'm sorry the quality isn't very good.

Be well you two. Be blessed!

Good fluff. You thought of ways to justify many battles (xenos or other scum after the system's mineral wealth), as did you prepare for some stunning customisations on your minis (some Bretonnian parts to show off those Lyonesse relics? :) ).

I do agree with Imperator Mos about the making and donating of the Saint's DNA though. A thing of such power doesn't seem like something the Emperor in all His wisdom would give to 20 novice nuns on a backward planet in the middle of nowhere. Although if you would work in an amazing feat of strength on their part, such a donation would be in order. Maybe one way to go is that while the Ecclesiarchy 're-education' fleet was delayed by Warp storms, the 20 Sisters, inspired by visions of great deeds of Saint Repanse De Lyonesse, wiped out half the planet's cultists before the fleet emerged from Warp space, allowing for a swift integration of the newfound star system into the Imperium of Man. In gratitude of such devotion (and because taxes can now be levied much faster  ) the Emperor decided to grant the fresh order a relic of the saint that inspired them to such greatness.

Hail Brother Obliterator!

Thank you for your great reply! You know, I hadn't thought about the logic, or lack of it, in giving such an important experimental project like 'Project Hiero-Saint' to such a small battle mission. So after reading your post I am thinking about it. Perhaps Petite Francois de Lyonesse is simply being raised and trained there under the watchful eye of the Inquisition and Ecclesiarchy tutors? Oh, I know! Maybe she is just -one- of many artificially cloned 'Saints'! Then she wouldn't be such an irreplaceable and precious commodity. It could be a secret Imperium wide program scattered throughout the stars... Perhaps Imperial Psykers and Diviners have visions of a great Saint returning to save Terra in it's hour of need, but the details are lacking, and this is just one of their attempts to force fate to comply with their visions?

Hmm, hmm....this is fun, thinking about these ideas! Thank you! I will try to write up a sub story where my Canoness earns the trust and favor of the Emperor's council enough to be awarded custody of one of the hiero-saints in training.

In the name of the Emperor, and all the saints!

Frankie

Maybe she is just -one- of many artificially cloned 'Saints'!

Primarchs v2.0

Could work though!

Ah! You are right, that would potentially change the whole Imperium, ha ha! Sister Super Saints would replace the Space Marines! I enjoy talking with you Obliterator, you have a friendly common sense that helps me out a lot. I think I will have Petite Francoise just be the Veteran Sister Seraphim. I received a lovely model yesterday, the Seraphim with her sword aloft and no helmet, very nice! So I will go for a more vanilla, by the codex approach, and let blessed Saint Celestine be herself when I field her, lol!

Have a great week, and a better weekend at the end of it!

Frankie
