Finishing Sa’lili’s Warband

You may have noted this mentioned elsewhere but sights are now set on finishing up the daemon army I started when the C:CD came out, nine months ago now. :D

I have a bit of a to-do list, at least thoughts concerning the models I want to finish to complete the army. From the original thread I still need to finish up the following models:

Skulltaker & Bloodcurshers x4

x2 SoulGrinders (maybe even paint the 3rd one)

Nurgle Daemon Prince

x4-5 Flamers

Then, I’d also like to get these new models added:

Keeper of Secretes

Fateweaver

x8 Horrors – and now with the Call of Chaos underway ~

Your comments are most welcome. That’s really the point of such threads isn’t it?

Here’s hoping I get this army done without any further diversions.

Still can't wait to see how you do that Nurgle prince, your painting style is very bright and Nurgle isn't, so it should be pretty interesting. That guy at the end is the Changeling right? Either way, what model is it? Looks almost like the driver from the vampire counts corpse cart.

Looking cool.

I've notice a lot people useing the Corp Cart model as Changling (myself being one of them)

Have you seen the new Khorne Daemon goods that are being release by forge world.

Finial how do you carry your Blood Crusher?? Just I'm having problem carry my own with the rider breaken off ;)

And that last photo... is that the Changeling? If so, looks nice.

That is the Changeling, yes. A bit more of a conversion to follow.

Really? Old Father Nurgle and I came to an understanding some time ago. I even have Death Guard army (that I really need to revisit). Here are some examples for you:

Three headed GUO

Some Plaguebearers

Some marines

You get the idea.

You are (both) correct on the origin of the base model. It’s a natural fit.

I have seen the new Khorne goodness and have already purchased the new Nurgle goodness. I just had to buy an FW Brass Scorpion as well. Just because.

As far as transporting the BC’s, I custom cut a very deep Army Transport foam tray just for them. No other clue how to do so otherwise. They’re just too awkward.

Thanks for the comments gents.

Cheers, -OMG

I made some good progress over the weekend on my Horror squad. It’s shaping up much better than I expected.

I’m hoping to have these guys finished this week and then move on to the next item on the to-do list.

More on this later. -OMG

Quick update: Here’s the first horror completed, sans dry coat.

Pink Horrors once struck in that special way, break down into two Blue Horrors which later grow up to become two Pink Horrors. They didn’t try to represent that fluff in a rule but they kept it in the unit description. It never describes in detail how they move from one color to the other. In fact, it suggests that color flows over their skin in random patterns (at least they say so for Flamers).

So that’s my justification other than the fact that I thought it looked cool. The squad will vary patterns regardless.

Cheers, -OMG

Here’s a quick pic with the Horror squad now half finished.

I also finished assembling Fateweaver’s base. I’m really looking forward to finishing him up.

Comments always welcome. -OMG

I just did a quick search of Battlewagon and it seems like they don’t have any Vampire Counts bits. Very odd that from where I’m sitting.

You could try eBay or bartertown otherwise the Corpse Cart kit is the only option. If it helps at all I have found it to be a great source for bits on other projects but that is why I bought it in the first place.

Good luck, -OMG

Sorry, one last question. What did you use for the arms on your Corpse Cart / Changeling? I just got the corpse cart driver with 3 diff heads on e-bay for $4.00, seemed pretty reasonable for me.

More completed this past weekend. Here’s the finished Horror squad w/Changeling:

Since I was on a roll with these guys I went ahead and started work on the Flamers as well. (Though I was tempted to swap out their bases for ones with the fallen statues.)

I’ll have a blog post up here in a few for those who’d like to read more. Otherwise, comments always welcome.

Here are some quick updates.

Here’s the status of my Fateweaver conversion. He’s at least assembled & green stuffed.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v699/OwlandMoonGuy/Daemons/01-Fateweaver-assembled.jpg

Here’s also a Keeper of Secrets (Sa’lili in Greater Daemon form) and another Bloodcrusher to add to Skulltaker’s retinue.

More soon. -OMG

Forgive my mono-theistic tunnel vision, but your work on the Fateweaver conversion and those glorious Horrors is up to your usual oustanding levels of past glories.

But Comrade, your vision of the Changeling is something else.

Truly inspirational. Many thanks and congratulations!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. He’s currently sitting on the mantel over my fireplace. Sometimes it almost seems like he pointing those gnarled blue arms right at me. Then, this one time, I went to put some paint on another daemon model and wound up unknowingly painting a space marine instead. Coincidence? I’m still not sure…

Here are some Fateweaver updates. I hope to have him complete here in short order.

Thanks again, -OMG

Not so expensive really. It certainly helps that the LoC kit comes with both head/neck combo’s. Barring that, it’s all what’s in your bits box afterwards.

He’s got a lot more paint on him now than when I took this pic. I’m hoping to have him done through this weekend.

Thanks for the comment. -OMG
