veidin
Do you have to let the opponent know who is in what transport? Been wondering on this one and unsure if you have to let the opponent know who is in which. JamesI
If you don't , what would stop people from changing what was in a transport each turn? ShinyRhino
I believe it's technically a "house rule" area. However, if you're playing in any sort of GW-official tourney, you'll have to provide an open list to your opponent. That means you have to tell him/her what's in each transport. The Golden Rule applies here. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165907-knowledge-of-transported-units/#findComment-1953115 Share on other sites
Castus Xanthis
Technically no, but you still should. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165907-knowledge-of-transported-units/#findComment-1953118 Share on other sites
Jangalak
House rule I play is that you can keep it secret until deploying, but that you have to write it down beforehand so that it can be checked after deployment. That way you can keep it secret and cant be accused of cheating. Warp Angel
The only place the rules specify that you have to declare what is in a transport is when declaring reserves so that it's clear what's coming in on a single roll of the dice. It would be courtesy to write things down or ask your opponent to write things down. Keep in mind that units cannot start the game deployed inside someone else's dedicated transport and cannot arrive from reserve in someone else's transport either. Praeger
Actually the rules state that you DONT have to tell. This is also a good idea as it makes the game more interesting. For tournaments - you DO need to hand over your army list, but that does not ever mean that you must show which physical model is for what unit. HOWEVER At almost every tournament and club there are rules stating that although you dont have to show what transport is which to your opponent, you do still need to have it written down so you can show a ref or the other player at the end of the game if something fishy does happen. This rulling is a very logical one that helps to keep the guess work and fun of the army intact, while still allowing for certainty that no cheating will happen without being punished (normally instant disqualification at tournaments) So basicly - you dont HAVE to show your opponent, but you SHOULD write it down to prove that you are not cheating. Steelmage99
Well, you do have to tell your opponent which units deploy in which transports and you do have to declare whenever you embark on a transport. You can be an asshat and insist that your opponent remembers those data for himself (he'll properbly start to write it down somewhere thereby slowing down the game), or you can be a gentleman and tell him if he asks. Scott-S6
You have to declare it for reserves. Why not for deployed transports? Besides, codex chapters should have squad type and number marked on the transport. Hlakir
Pg.92 A Note on Secrecy (second sentence). yergerjo
Better still, ask yourself "Do I want to know what units are embarked in my opponent's transports?" "So this battle wagon has the Mega Armored Nobs, this truck has the burna boyz, this truck has another nobz squad and this wagon has choppa boyz, right?" *silence* "Right?" *creak creak* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165907-knowledge-of-transported-units/#findComment-1954280 Share on other sites
Brother Gothard
Of course you WANT to know ... but that's why you shoot them before they get to your lines, right? Its like looking in your parents closet before "your birthday" - you just HAVE to know! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165907-knowledge-of-transported-units/#findComment-1954371 Share on other sites
