daemon article

First off, there are a few inaccuracies that you should address in your article.

Under, Know your Enemy, Deep Striking (which in C:CD is referred to as, Daemonic Assault). The Daemon player gets their preferred ½ on the roll of the 3+. You indicate that this happens on the roll of a 5 or 6. Note also that there is no, “may” about it. The Daemon player picks their preferred ½ and rolls. On a 1 or 2 you get the other, i.e. “non preferred” half.

Also, you indicate that, “Most daemon players use roughly even halves.” This is actually a requirement, i.e. they have no choice. If there is an odd number of units you can round accordingly when picking your preferred ½ but it must work out as close to even as possible by deployable unit count (i.e. IC’s + joined unit = 1 deployable).

Under Armour Saves: Not all daemon armor saves are INV as there is a Daemonic gift, Iron Hide that endows a 3+, regular armor save. This is standard on Bloodcurshers & options for Daemon Princes and some Heralds, all of which are fairly common units.

Under Khorne, Fighting fire with fire, you describe bloodletters as having a similar statline to MEQ’s but omit the fact that they are WS5. If you can get the drop on letters at I5 that’s all the better but if even a few remain they will reap their toll in kind.

You also state, “It is also possible that Khan can instant kill greater deamons as none of them have eternal warrior or equivalent which prevents instant death.” Actually, ALL daemons have the Eternal Warrior, USR. Even lowly W2 Bloodcrushers cannot be insta-killed.

FYI: You are correct about Skarbrand and benefitting friend and foe alike. Side note: If he’s used appropriately there are never many enemies left to benefit from it.

Under Nurgle, Sweepers you state that, “sweeping units may not be required against a nurgle army as even a basic unit of ccw scouts can be effective against them.” Even a small unit of plaguebearers will tie up a much larger unit for turns on end. Minimally you need something to get rid of their FNP saves. Otherwise, once in B2B, it normally takes a fairly monumental number of powered attacks to kill them all off.

Under, Tzeench, you might also mention that Horrors shoot Warpfire, 18”, S4, AP4, Assault 3. A scout themed army should fear these guys like the plague. They also boast a 4+ INV save so they roughly get the same benefits in and out of cover. Even with their BS3, any scout unit that gets caught in the open will be quickly removed from the table by Horrors, even as they arrive fresh from the warp.

You can also further impress upon your readers the value of Flamer units as Breath of Chaos also denies cover saves and always wounds & glances vehicles on a 4+. Since Flamer units come with a minimum of 3 models, that’s at least 3 templates worth of hits before the wound dice start rolling.

Under, Slaanesh, the lash-like ability is spelled, “pavane.”

Just by way of suggestion, you may want to put this article on hold until you get a little more experience playing Daemons. Even from glancing over your battle reports it seems like the lists you’ve faced are hardly optimal. Likewise, you don’t mention many daemonic units that are very common or how mixed forces will exploit each other’s strengths an weakness accordingly.

Here are some of the other units that deserve a little more treatment:

Fateweaver

The 4 greater daemons (at least Bloodthirsters & KoS)

Nurgle builds with both Ku’gath & Epidemus

Bloodcrushers w/or w/o a SkullTaker on Jugger

Daemonic Heralds (and how CD’s can get 4 HQ choices)

Daemonzilla builds

Nurgle Daemon Princes

Just something to think about.

thanks OMG, the main point to these articles that i talked about with the first couple, is that they will never truely be complete (not for a while anyway).

I use the little bit of knowledge i have and build upon it, or let others help me out.

Needless to say all the advice here will be acted upon, and thanks for your in depth advice, its all helpful..

Hopefully in a few weeks/months it will resemble a great tactica!

Edit, i changed all the smaller points, thanks OMG

Ill get what i can up about these guys any help is greatfully appreciated.

There's the Daemon Review series of threads, we just got Fast Attack out of the way and moving onto Heavy Support. It's a treasure chest full of daemon goodness, might want to start there.

That's two days in a row I've come down to recommend something and been beaten to it.

For the record though, I'm going to compile the whole thing (or what we have so far) and post it all up in a couple of days. If you wait 'til we get heavy support done you can read it all in one go.

Sweet, i can be getting on with the crons stuff and revisit the daemons at the end of the week.

Thanks guys
