Rythlan
Can you buy a full (10) tac squad, and a Razor back as a dedicated transport? Then of course break the squad in half and leave the heavy weaps on the field with the other 5 in the razor, or does the dedicated transport have to be able to fit the whole squad? Top Secret
You can do it, it's a great tactic. Cut the squad in half, and leave the heavy weapon sitting on an objective while the powerfist and flamer go rushing towards the front. Brother Gothard
You dont even have to intend to split the squad down! If it says you "may" or "can" buy something, but does not list a "when" or "if" type restriction, then go NUTS! Rythlan
You dont even have to intend to split the squad down! If it says you "may" or "can" buy something, but does not list a "when" or "if" type restriction, then go NUTS! Â I suppose this is true. My hesitation came from the fact that I would be buying a dedicated transport that the squad could not legally embark. Â None the less, I will be going nuts with this rule. Thanks again for the info! Lord Humongous
If there's no requirement that a unit be able to embark in their dedicated transport in C:SM (in the unit entries or otherwise) or in the rulebook (which there is not) then yes, you can do it. Â Not directly related to razorbacks, but it was noted early on when the new chaos codex came out that that chaos space marines have many units that can potentially be to big for their transports; 11+ member units of CSMs, noise marines, death guard, thousand sons, possessed, and havocs can still all buy a dedicated rhino, and 6+ units of terminators can take a dedicated LR. In fact, the only chaos unit which is restricted from buying a transport if above a certain size is berserkers; they can only take a dedicated rhino if they number 10 or less. Fluff wise, consider that such units likely use the transport for hauling supplies, as a radio relay, to carry thier wounded, and for other logistics purposes, as well as fire support. Plus, if they loose a few models during the game, you can have them pile in. Grendelsbane
I was just arguing with my buddy about this very question! I thought you could he didn't think so. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/165946-tacs-and-razor-backs/#findComment-1954489 Share on other sites

tastytaste
The only thing you cannot do is have a dedicated transport for one squad then take that same squad and put in say a Land Raider at the start of the game. Once the game starts a squad can go into valid transport it wants.
