Unholy Alliance

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I've never let anyone except friends, family and my girlfriend see my work before, as i'm not a big gamer... yet. So be gentle on me with these pics please. The Juggernaught is from my original time painting, almost 10 years ago, the Black Legion stuff is all new since Christmas after taking up the brushes again after 6 years out.

Any C&C welcome but please be gentle...

 rainbow colored possesed!

Paint job is solid and prettty good, better than mine anyway. I love the old terminators really cool helms. I see that you have a lot of old models, personally i think it adds a lot of character to an army. Look forward to seeing more if you got.

Thanks Rafen. The Possessed were done with parts from a Chaos Warrior Halberd Unit, I thought it added character to them. I'll get some more pics of them all individually on here soon. The mutations/daemon parts were mixed from what was left from the new set and the old mutations sprue with some bits added from a skeleton from Fantasy. A serious "what's left in my bits box" squad. The Termies are going to be Abaddon's retinue when he gets finished (if ever!) and they have an Abby personalised Land Raider for Transport on the way too. The Icon and the Icon Bearers helmet was also from the Halberds box.

Most of my models are the "older" generation as they were sat unpainted in boxed while I was at uni and getting life back on track after graduating.

Thanks for the comment though Sgt, check back tonight for possibly more pics.

Pics of my possessed (or the Village People as my girlfriend calls them... check out "Greenie" pointing and imagine "Young man...") in more detail...

Nice start mate. I see that you've started using some inks and washes on the possessed. Some of the gold areas could also benefit from a wash of some sort.

The other thing I would suggest is that you get some flock on the bases, I never could be bothered with mine but once I did start doing them, it really brought the whole model up and I reckon it would do the same for you too.

Looking forwards to seeing the rest of your army as it progresses

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw your possessed. But don't get me wrong, they are really cool. Just the mosh of colours and the stances are somewhat humerous.

And to be honest, your painting is fine. Your khorne guy on juggernaut is a little shiny, but your black legion and the 'green' possessed are painted fine. Don't worry. The only thing I'd say is that your black lacks depth. Black is hard to create depth with, so I recommend this:

Paint them grey.

Wash them heavily with badab black.

This creates highlights, shading and base all at once. The only problem is that the end result isn't fully black. It is slightly grey.

Oooooh, I like that idea. Thanks Capt Mike!

You're right, it won't be totally black but it will be a lot better with the depth. I have been considering trying my hand with some 50:50 shadow grey/chaos black to highlight edges etc but i've never been brave enough. I like it though, i'd never have thought of that.

On the possessed, I totally think that's one squad that doesn't need serious posing, they're like a joke of the gods, and certainly not held in high regard by many a gamer from what i read on here so we had a little fun. My girlfriend was put in charge of picking the colours and what heads/arms/spikes etc to go with what sets of armour. It really was a bits box effort and was just something to pass time till i found some old models that were boxed up in my parents loft from many millenia ago. They add a really nice centre piece to my whole army with the lack of any big model, tank or serious character of the undivided finished. And i think they are for humour value too. My gf has named them the Village People...! And I think they shall always be known as such...
