JEFF4i
Once you put them in a LRC they are no longer footslogging are they ? When you phrase things like this makes you sound like a dick doesn't it? ;) No, they are no longer footsloggy, hence my post. Footsloggy in larger games stinks for the Wolves, in my experience. If you don't want them to be in a transport, at least go Bolters on Grey Hunters for the 24 inch range. Grey Mage
Might I redirect your potentially 15-size melee loving squads here? Large footslogging squads are nothing but template bait. Eh, I find with the scatter these days its not so bad... usually a large blast will hit four guys. Of course its situational too.... since terrain can make them bunch up alot more. *sighs*. True, but they'll still get cover saves from most templates... Transports is where it's at. Bringing the faithful to the frontlines, and quickly... That's my point, put bolters on them and have them sit on an objective. This is why I don't footsloggy, too many things that can go wrong to me, especially since transports are cheap now-a-days. Grey Mage
Not to mention its only an option. You can still advance, perferably using cover, and while that might waste a turn of shots or two if it sets you up for more shots or an objective then hey, its worth it. Mech lists can be fun, but I find them to be a mixed bag.... it seems like 3/4 times Im waiting for the enemy to come and try to kill me, and then countercharging. But then I play alot of orks and chaos these days. Footsloggy, generally, is the best at holding your own objectives, again, with Bolters and maybe even a PG or Melta, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166036-i-love-my-wolves/page/2/#findComment-1958209 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Agreed, mech is better for capturing most of the time, footslogging is just as good at holding your own normally... but each battle is differently. And of course, if fishes were wishes we could see bloodclaws preform the running of the bulls out of an LRC for 300points. *Sighs* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166036-i-love-my-wolves/page/2/#findComment-1958215 Share on other sites

WG Vrox
Trasports are more than just a way of getting your troops to a certain place. I am finding that I am getting in and out of my trasports a couple times during a game, especially my reserve home objective Razor Back unit. I park it on an objective and only pop out if I have something to shoot at or assult. Remember you can hold the objective from within the trasport, shoot let's say your plasma gun and one bolter out of the hatch 24" and if needed it gives them an extra 2" on an assult, so 14" instead of 12 can surprise your enemy. Also when your troops are low in model count, it's a great way to preserve the KP or keep them from being shot to ribbons by something that can't hurt the transports armor at range. WG Vrox. Yeti
Totally agree with you WG Vrox. Transports also make great pieces of mobile terrain. Sticking a 50pt rhino in front of something to block LOS to something more expensive and/or fragile is pretty much a standard tactic for me. It's a little less effective in KP games ... but even then, a rhino isn't going to rack up many KPs, as opposesed to the dread/pred/squad that it's protecting.
