Melissia
From a rules standpoint-- maybe. But from a fluff standpoint there is no relation between the Sisters of Silence and the formative years of the Sisters of Battle. Also, the Sisters of Battle are able to resist because of their faith, not because of their status as blanks. Grey Mage
And to think, I always though the Sisters of Silence ran the blackships and were secretly the daughters of the first missing primarch who decided she didnt like war, or got a horrible set of wounds that scarred her into never wanting to be seen again. Verythrax Draconis
If the SoS were crewing all black ships than the first action plot of one of my favourite books Faith and Fire would be somewhat redundant, that and the fact that the witch hunters codex says the sisters of battle act as wardens on the black ships (pg11 3rd last line under chamber militant headline) if the SoS were still in force on the ships there really would be no need i would have thought. That's why I suppose it's a mix both, Before heresy, SoS were the only (or main) force inside the Black Ships. Now, I think they are still there, but in less numbers, and the main fighting forces are ISTs and SoBs now. I'll try to pinpoint the reference in the book.
