Tidus
Hi i am a Blood Angels player and thought i would start another Army. I choose Witch Hunters as I have always like the look of them and not many people are them. Infact they are the only force that my mates are not! Every other race is taken! So far I have brought 3 squads of Sisters of Battle for £39 new. I have also got two Immolators, Arco-flagellants, Seraphim (10) and a Repentia squad. I am painting them as the Order of the Sacred Rose. I am going to Games Workshop HQ this weekend and was thinking of what to buy. This is what i have been thinking Exorcist (forge world one) Exorcist (games workshop one) And some penitent engines. This is the Army I was looking at getting see what you think 201 Saint Celestine 205 Lord Karamazov 175 Arco-flagellants 5 210 Sisters Repentia 10 135 Battle Sisters Veteran Sister, Melta gun, Heavy Flamer, Rhino 131 Battle Sisters Veteran Sister, Flamer, Heavy Flamer, Rhino 131 Battle Sisters Veteran Sister, Flamer, Heavy Flamer, Rhino 234 Seraphim Squad two with hand flamers 10 135 Exorcist 135 Exorcist 65 Immolator 70 Immolator Heavy Bolters 85 Immolater Melta 240 Penitent 3 2303 I want a Retributor squad with heavy bolters and been looking at a Dominion squad in a Immolator. What do people think? Is there anything that do not work well in the game? Or is there something i should have more of. I already know I need to buy some priests Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166285-starting-a-witch-hunter-army/ Share on other sites
Corpse.
SoB forces that I have trouble facing have 20 size units with that eviscerator superior in there. Or, they run rhinos with heavy flamer and flamer, or two meltas and eviscerator. I would consider a mixed army like youres being a spearhead army. The melee keeps with your bolters, and you strike in one spot, eliminate it and move onto the next part. Dont split up your objective area too much. Having two excorsists is nice for this duty. Arcoflag's are a bit, weary for their cost.... Others may say different, I dont see them too often.... I would bolster the repentia in higher numbers so their single attack after charge turn doesnt end up being their bane against orks and the like. I already know I need to buy some priests Sadly you couldnt' have an army built like that unless you play Apocalypse. Since your Immolators are not attached to a squad they count as Heavy Support choices as do the Penitent Engines. You have 6 heavy support slots listed. Also since you dont' have a priest listed so you can't even field teh Penitent Engines or Arco-flagellants. All that said, I think you will find you liek your models and that when painted you will have an extremely cool looking army. Melissia
I would remove Repentia altogether. Same with Karamazov too. You are missing a preist. You cannot have Arco-Flagellants without a priest-- even if you have an inquistior like Karamazov, you must still have an Ecclesiarchal representative. Because of their cost, I'd also consider removing them entirelly as well, but they have a lot of flavor and unlike Repentia they don't entirelly suck in ninety percent of situations. To go with Celestine, I'd get a squad of Seraphim with a veteran, perhaps 7-8 strong. Inferno pistols would be fine, or flamers and an eviscerator. Remove the immolators and instead get a six woman retributor squad with four heavy bolters and an immolator transport. That's four heavy bolters, and one twin-linked heavy bolter-- more than enough anti-infantry fire for one heavy support choice, and it would also continue to fit in with the force organization chart (max three heavy support choices). If you want immolators, I owuld indeed suggest getting dominians and retributors. Immolators taken as transprot do not take up FoC slots. Imperator Mos
Heavy support should be 3 Exos or 2 and a HB Retributor squad. That is all. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166285-starting-a-witch-hunter-army/#findComment-1959405 Share on other sites
Mosk
If you are looking for more of a witch hunter force then max out your troops with squads of 5 storm troopers, then take a few dominion squads in immolators, and honestly, everyone loves exorcists, but (and now is when I start getting burnt from everyone) Immolators man, grant it, I run an immolator spam army, sometimes taking 11 immolators and several more rhinos full of sisters. Immolator spam is fun as no other to play, its also fun to play against, its tricky, my kroot mercs and my army of 72 genestealers hates going up against this list, but i have still won with those two armies. Immolator spam is not unbeatable, but it is truely a mechanized force, very very fun to play :) I would recommend not using acros flagellants at first, they kick major @$$ but its very difficult to get them to the target. Also Zealots, very fun to field, I fielded an army with 4 full units of them once, lotta fun but was over 1200 pooints of units with no armor save... but when they hit, they destroyed :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166285-starting-a-witch-hunter-army/#findComment-1960836 Share on other sites
