Arch Angel Storm
Hello to all of b'n'c! I've been wanting to play warhammer 40k for ages and my friend and his renegade eldar pushed me to get some models. I looked around and the inquisition appealed to me like wildfire. The only problem is is that i can't decide between sisters and grey knights because their both awesome! so is it a good idea to ally some grey knights into a sisters army or the other way round? And would it be good as in playing at my local GW and have a chance at winning since i heard that their not the most 'competitive' armies (which i don't particually care about at the start but as i get better i don't want to get obliterated all the time.) But which ever one I choose I wanted to make my army different from other armies and decided to come up with some 'fluff'. inquisitor Fetherin 'storm' Tir'zah leads a mission force of sisters of battle of the order of our matryd lady to a planet where a witch is corrupting the world and is creating massive chaos force and he beleives if he takes out the witch the chaos warriors will quickly fall to the imperial guard that will come once the witch is dead. Another inquisitor is hunting the same witch but he beleive's that the witch is taking orders from a powerful daemon host so he descends on the planet a small force of grey knights to eliminate the threat. Both inquisitors meet and join their forces together to destroy the same threat. They attack the temple the witch and daemonhost are at. They find the their is already a fire fight goin on between the chaos warriors and renagade eldar. Deciding to assist the eldar, the inquisitors and their forces lay down heavy fire into the building. Alltough the joined forces kill the witch and daemonhost 1 of the inquisitors suffers a wound to the head and dies. Storm calls into the imperial guard to tell them that the main threat of the chaos force was defeated and that it was now safe to send in reginments to purge the planet. But the imperial guard reply to the inquisitor saying that from high command the whole planet is to be bonbarded and know one is leave the planet alive. Storm, grey knights and sisters are all dismayed at what they're told and that they were to die not even in service to the emperor. The renegade eldar ask them if they want to escape the planet with them as they are banished from their home craft world of beil-tan and that now they travel the stars purging evil in hope of forgiveness from their gods. The small slightly amoured inquisition force are at first relucttant to go with the xeno's race but knowing that they could serve the emperor with out the ristricions of the corrupt imperium. They decide to worship the allmighty emperor but turn their backs on the corrupt imperium and they join the eldar in their journey to destroy the daemon and chaos. (they escaped on the eldar's awsome stealth ships that just so happened to be really big and they had a few of them) (The high command the imperial guard were talking about were the inquisitor lord) All c'n'c welcome. The story is kind of random but it seems cool. Btw the sisters of our matryd lady change the colour of the robes and armour to somthing different. At the moment i'm thinking purple/dark green armour, white/grey robes and a gold trim. Any one got any other unused by imperium colour schemes. Obliterator
I've heared starting Grey Knights has a steep learning curve, but I believe most Inquisition armies are competitive. With my pure Sisters list I normally win more battles then I lose, so you shouldn't worry about getting obliterated in every game. Personally I'd start with a SoB army and add some GK elements to that. Btw the sisters of our matryd lady change the colour of the robes and armour to somthing different. Gaz1858
I think mixing may be a good start. Especially if your not entirely sure which one to use. A few PAGK with a Termy Squad. Then add in sisters as HQ troops etc. Then try a GK HQ and troops with Sisters backup. Me.... i love Grey Knights. Got a pure GK force myself and it is very competitive!!!!! After all, he has far more authority than anyone in the Imperial Guard. Are the IG traitors who want rid of the Inquisitorial presence? number6
I definitely think that WH makes a better base army. Unless you have a driving need to play with land raiders and dreadnoughts, the unique bits of the DH codex are the Grey Knights, and you can take as many of those units as you'd ever need as allies in a base WH army. The WH codex has more "viable" builds, a wider variety of units, and in general is a little easier to learn to play than a pure DH/pure GK army.
