spacewolflars
Hail Brothers, I have been away from the Fang for a time now seeking honor and glory in battle. I've just recently joined a gaming group based in the newly opened Sugarland, Texas GW store. This is a pretty good group of guys and certainly not pushovers by any means. Many of them come from gaming groups in Austin (you know, the Bell of lost souls crowd). We just had the first of many seasons of play where we had a 1500 point list that we could not change. Here is My list: HQ Wolf Guard Battle Leader Lars (Otherwise known as my avatar)-- bike, frost axe, bolt pistol, wolf pelt, frag grenades Wolf Guard Battle Leader Guntr-- twin lightning claws, wolf pelt, frag grenades 94 Troops Grey Hunters x 6 ----- power weapon, power fist, melta gun, RAZORBACK dozer blade, twin linked heavy bolter Grey Hunters x 6 ----- power weapon, power fist, melta gun, RAZORBACK dozer blade, twin linked heavy bolter Blood Claws x 12 ---- 3x power fist Fast Attack Blood Claws on Bikes x 3 ------ power fist, flamer Attack Bikes x 2 multimeltas Heavy Support Land Raider Crusader Vindicator ---- siege shield Vindicator ---- siege shield In the course of the season I outshot a tau army that castled up in a corner. I fought Against and beat numerous Ork armies, including one Boss/Nob Biker army backed up with a horde of Orks. I fought against other Space Marine Chapters including many Sons of Dorn. Imperial fists were difficult and I only narrowly pulled off a tie between myself and a Black Templar army. At the end of the season the top 4 players held a playoff to find out who was the baddest of the bad. Attending the playoffs were a Vanilla marine chapter set up as a gunline army with a combat squad/razorback assault contingent led by a Librarian with Avenger, The Nob biker list Which was a Warbiker boss on bike leading 6 Nobs on bikes followed up by a Big Mek with a Force Field leading about 100 Orks, The last list were the Imperial Fists a pretty well rounded list featuring a pretty formiddable gunline and a Redeemer with an assault terminator squad. I wont go into gory details of the season games (there were many). But suffice it to say that I ended up with 5 wins 1 loss and 1 draw. Here follows a brief account of the final battles in my road to glory: First game was against the Vanilla Marines. The mission was to claim as many of the 5 objectives as possible with a spearhead deployment. I left a unit of grey hunters and their transport to gaurd the objective closest to my deployment, while another unit of Grey hunters went to claim another. The rest of the army Went to claim or contest another to lock in the win. His assault force went around the table the other way, working towards my home objective. His assault force of razorbacks, combat squads, librarian and vindicator were dealt with by the Grey Hunters and my pair of vindicators. My favorite highlight of the game was were my blood claws were inside the Crusader claiming an objective and Guntr jumped out and destroyed a combat squad in close combat, Guntr then consolidated towards the last (almost full) Tac squad on the board who were claiming his home objective. That was the end of turn 4. He conceded. For the final game I was going against the Imperial Fists who had sent the Nob biker list packing. This fellow is an exceptional player and painter who still has some of his guard army from 2nd edition. We rolled for a kill points/pitched battle game. With his combat squads and many transports and small vehicle squads it went pretty bad for him, especially since I got first turn and with shooting I managed to start the game with 2 kill points. He fought valiantly though as a Founding Chapter should. This is where the versatility of the Space Wolf codex shines. I was able to use Space Wolf troops with Space marine vehicles to come up with a pretty evil combo. I fear that we will lose that versatility (as the Black Templars have) when we have our own "stand alone" codex. Here's hoping though. It would be nice to have some more "fluff" I suppose. Glory to the Fang! Glory to the ALLFATHER !! GLORY TO RUSS !!! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166374-glory-to-the-fang/ Share on other sites

OnlyInDeath
Hey Lars, welcome back to the Fang! Congrats on a great gaming season. I'm truly jealous, as my game time has now dried up since I moved to madison. I work till 8 during weekdays and the LGS's only have a couple weekdays for 40k gaming, and the weekend stuff is usually tournaments that I have a hard time doing since I have a wolf cub to take care of. At least some of us are out there gaining some glory for the wolves :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166374-glory-to-the-fang/#findComment-1959293 Share on other sites
