Destroyer Strength?

So, if a destroyer weapon hits a waveserpent from the front or side does it become Str 8 instead?

To threadjack, what page says D-weapons cause D3 or D6 structure points on super heavies? I can't find it...

Well, since DH and BT smoke launchers still reduce all penetrating hits to glancing per their RAW, I would say that yes, a Wave Serpeants energy field would reduce a strength D to Strength 8.

Thats an old Imperial Armor rule set that has them doing d3 or d6 structure points, not apocalypse

"- it automatically scores a penetrating hit.

 

This hit can be downgraded to a glancing hit by rules that have that effect (smoke launchers, fast moving skimmers, etc), with the exception of cover which cannot obscure the vehicles and the destroyer weapon just blasts its way right through."

 

So I would say probably. Obviously the fast moving skimmers and normal SM smoke launchers no longer reduce to glancing. The strength D drops to Strength 8, but still auto pen's.

 

Unless the holo fields drop it to glancing...but it doesn't.

And thats what gets me... if it does drop it to str 8, then its not Str D and doesnt autoscore a penetrating hit. If it doesnt, then the field does nothing and it does score a penetrating hit.

Well the question gets boild down to this.

 

is Strength D an actual strength value,

or is strength D just a way to represent the "Destroyer" rule in a similar way to str x weapons?

 

Honestly though, in any setting that allows str D weaponry, I would have it still auto pen.
