Arch Angel Storm
hey everyone, Has any one tryed 30 seraphim in 2000pts. Would be worth it and would it be effective seeing that it would cost about 1000 points. Stupid question but i was just thinking about it and was wondering what you people would think... WarriorFish
That's a pretty large chunk of your points there, so you'd really have to build the army around working with the Seras. This would probably mean mechanised SoB squads so they can rush up to support them. One of the main "problems" I see with Seras is that they're pretty big fire magnets as any player with experience against them knows they can cause some damage, so having loads of them would no doubt help with that. It would limit your Faith a bit, since SoB squads are your main source of this plus Seras can burn through them a fair amount. Over all I'm not too sure about your idea. I'd be inclined to take 20 Seras to see how it turns out smaller scale first, you may well find out that's enough points spent on them. Chengar Qordath
WarriorFish pretty well covered the main issues with a Seraphim-heavy army; a Seraphim costs twice as much as a normal battlesister so fielding large numbers of them gets expensive fast. Faith usage is a fairly big issue, as I usually find that Seraphim eat up a lot of Faith Points thanks to their ability to move around the battlefield rapidly and the Simulacrum making Acts of Faith easier. Seraphim are at their best as skirmishing/outflanking units, and while they're great in their role they need a solid core of basic troops to supplement them and hold the enemy in place. With 30 Seraphim in a 2000 point match, you probably won't have enough left over to make a solid core of troops along with a good HQ and the near obligatory 2-3 Exorcists. As a note, you might want to consider taking the Living Saint as your HQ for a Seraphim-heavy army; her movement and special rules are definately designed for attachment to a Seraphim squad, having another flamer template in the squad is great, and she gives a nice cc punch without sacrificing hit-and-run like an attached canoness does. jeffersonian000
Another point to consider is buying a Litanies of Faith for your canoness, as max sized Seraphim squads are a little less flexible in which Acts of Faith they can achieve and having the ability to get one extra AoF without worrying about Faith Points or Tests of Faith is worth the extra 25pts. Imperator Mos
For 2,000 pts you need 15-20 plus jump cannoness/ and or Celestine. Don't worry about Faith tests as Seraphim have a SimImp. Mosk
I have run 30 seraphem in an apoc game (very much count as used space marine jump troops) each squad was split up into units of 5 and each one was given a cannoness. The army was tooled out to be anti tank all the way, and well it was it did fairly well, i have two words that are so much sweeter and more fun and pleasing to play in a regular 40k game at 2000 pts: Immolator Spam..... ripath
It may not be relevant to serephim but I tried out a unit of 10 gkt in a 1500 point list with a tooled up GKGM even. and well it did extremely well. Most people don't know how to deal with your dangerous units when you take a lot of them. It tends to make your opponent change from their viable strategy and turn towards more non viable ones. WarriorFish
Good point by Chengar: it'd be heresy not to have Celestine in such an army! I would be careful about using a Canoness with the Seras so they don't lose their special Hit and Run rule, as that's awesome. Mosk
Yes, when using seraphem, i would say NEVER put a cannoness with them, hit and run is amazing... But immolators are better......
