Ant
I thought i'd throw this out here and see if i got an ale or two in return! What else does a man have to do at this time of night? haha This thread is dedicated to hearing your tales of heroism, courage, dedication, tenacity and overall wolfy fighting against the odds for the ale and bloodstained long tables of the Fang. Ill start it off with a tale of my Famous Rune Priest 'Jorik Thunderbelch"! (and his sidekick Bob, who refused to take credit for the mighty deeds of JORIK THUNDERBELCH *clap of lightning*) A small pocket of 13th Company Wolves had been set upon by a force of Imperial Fist Space Marines, focused on purging what they saw as a chaos tainted cub pack. Little did they know they would be fighting against the might of Jorik Thunderbelch and his wise, belchy wolf brothers! Now for the serious part (hehe). It was a 1.5k battle of capture and hold. Two turns in i decide to 'gate' mighty Thunderbelch, a small pack of Grey Slayers and his ten-tonne belly into a flanking position to take out a Vindicator which was lurking dangerously close to my Wulfen. The Deep-strike went completely wrong and i ended up having my opponent place my precious Jorik and his squad in the midst of his army. They were shortly shot upon and charged by a Commander armed with twin lightning claws, a Devestator Squad (this guy was pretty insane if you ask me ;) ) and a command squad of 5 marines (the boxed set you see on the shelves i think). The Grey Slayers went down pretty quickly, only two were left and one wound left on Jorik. I had inflicted 6 wounds upon his forces, two wounds on the commander and the rest upon the shooty guys of the command squad and the devastators. The battle raged on elsewhere with the rest of my wolves firmly holding my base against the onslaught of the Imperial Fists. In the 2nd round of combat Jorik and co. were slightly more lucky, with my opponent only managing to score one wound which i placed upon one of the last remaining Grey Slayers and Jorik making a handful of invulnerable saves, Jorik fought back and scored a total of 5 wounds! Crushing all but one of the Command squad and the entire devestator squad. The Grey slayer then struck the weary commander on the back of his naked head with his tankard of ale, sending him spinning and corkscrewing into the last command squad marine and taking him clean out, then they both fell down into the pit of death (similar to the one from 300) never to return. Shortly afterwards however Jorik and Bob's ever-burning flame turned out to be not-so-everburning when snuffed out by a certain Vindicator. Nevertheless their legend was sung for many a year in the Halls of the Fang! Thank you! If you can't think of anything but still want to write something then just bloody-well make it up! Noone will know and if someone does know then you need to get stalker-proof windows or a new anti-virus. - Ant Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166497-tales-of-heroism/ Share on other sites
Demogerg
In a city crowded with abandoned buildings, Wolf Brother Snerrir along with Bjorn the Fell Handed were tasked with retriving 2 deactivated servitors, who in their databanks held crucial information regarding the forces of Khorne that were advancing on the nearby Imperial worlds. The force available to the Space Wolves included allies from the chapter of the Crimson Saints. As the combined arms of marines advanced into the ruins and approached the known location of the lost servitors, an ambush of chaos appeared. Battle Leader Snerrir, armed with naught but his Frostblade and Stormshield, was forced into the open as a demon ripped open his land raider, killing 4 valued Blood Claws in the process. The suddeness of the explosion prevented any sort of counter-charge to the demon prince, greater demon, and blood crushers, but that did not stop Snerrir and his pack from fighting with all of thier fury. In an instant 3 more Blood Claws had been lost to chaos, but Snerrir and the more veteren 'Claws with powerfists were able to make the Greater Demon Bleed. Blood for the blood god indeed. As the combat ensued the remaining Initiates died off, but Snerrir remained, alone vs a wounded greater demon, a wounded demon prince, and an unending horde of bloodcrushers. Snerrir was able to deftly avoid all incoming attacks, using his shield to such ability that even Russ would have not been able to wound him. A lightning strike of opprotunity allowed the Wolf Guard to drop the greater demon with 2 quick slices, a few moments later he was able to defeat the startled price in a similar manner. Now Surrounded by Blood crushers, Snerrir did not slow his rampage. The rest of the marine forces did not hold out nearly as well, the forces of chaos had used trickery and deceit to manipulate the battle in thier favor, and Snerrir was the only survivor. the game was a doubles game, each player could field 1000 points, my team was me with space wolves, and my partner with vanilla marines, i was running a land raider with blood claws and a WGBL with a SS/FB, a rhino with grey hunters, a dakka pred, a venerable dread, and a 4 man scout squad with meltabombs, my teammate was running a thunderfire cannon, a MOTF with conversion beamer, 2 rhinos with tact squads, a sniper scout squad, and a dread. my opponent was using 2 squads of 8 blood crushers, fateweaver, and a bunch of demon princes, greater demons, and plague marines. i wont go into the details of how horrible they were to play against, but he charged into my blood claw squad with a greater demon, a demon prince and one squad of bloodcrushers on turn 2, and by the end of turn 6 i still had a wolf guard battle leader up with 1 wound left. There were 8 dead blood crushers, a dead greater demon, and a dead demon prince. i rolled 24 out of 25 saving throws and hacked half of his army to bits with a single 90 point character. Wolf Guard Hengist
This is not a story of a mighty Lord or Priest but of a ancient Vindicator currently in service of Wolf Lord Erik Morkai, the mighty war machine is loveingly known as " Skjald Borg" which means Shield Wall. Whilst engaged in an urban campaign against the Tau Wolf Lord Morkai deployed Skjald Borg into the city against a force of mechanised Tau. During the battle Skjald Borg was tasked with covering an open killzone to slow the Tau advance. In the opening turns Skjald Borg was caught by a rail gun shot which ripped its tracks off leaving it stranded. Luckily the crew had set Skjald Borg up in the correct position and could still carry out thier task. In what was the second turn of the battle the Tau had brought in thier heavy armour to finish off Skjald Borg, within seconds two hammerheads and two Broadsides had targetted Skjald Borg and fired rail slugs at the stranded tank. All four shots struck home but Skjald Borgs mighty armour held true and deflected all of the hits. In the third turn Skjald Borg was subject to more punishment in the form of rail guns and damage was taken to its main gun, this did not deter the grissly Long Fangs inside the ancient tank who popped the hatch and took to mowing down Tau with Skjald Borgs pintle mounted Storm Bolter. Skjald Borg survived the battle but had sustained massive amounts of damage, the crew refused to have the scarring damage repaired on the tank in memory of the Wolf Brothers that fell that day taking the city. I am currently re modelling my Vindicator with new battle damage to represent the damage taken in this epic feat. Gyson_Vore
This particular tale is about my Wolf Priest Freyr Blood Maw. Charging into the face of the vile Tau, the Crusader Thurse knocked aside several Ion Cannon blasts before finally being broken and leaving Freyr and his Blood Claws in the open. Soon his pack was whittled down by Fire Warriors until only he remained. That is where they made their mistake. The warriors reboarded their transport and set atop the runied Rhino that held the remains of a valiant Wolf Guard. Refusing to allow the xenos scum defile the body Freyr shot with his plasma pistol, and with that single shot pierced the hull and exploded inside the engine, causing an explosion that killed three of the blue skinned devils outright. Alas, though, for our hero could not close fast enough through the rubble and was felled by the flurry of Pulse rounds that were launched. A sad tale, but a tale that speaks of the resolve of the Sons of Russ. JEFF4i
Wolf Lord Bjorn Stormwolf adorned his terminator armour, yet again, to go into battle. The victims, this time, shall be Orkz. Entrance via drop pod ensured that action would be seen quickly, and it was brutal. His drop pod came down between two, yes, two full Boyz squads. After firing some shots, both fired back and then assaulted him. Moving faster than the namesake Lightning himself, Bjorn jumped from one boy to another wreaking terrible havoc with his Lightning Claws. After a long time, Bjorn and his Wolf Guard stood upon a hill of bodies, having felled every single ork that assailed them. 'Twas a glorious day for the Wolves, doing what Russ intended. Krave
In one of the innumerable mega-battles I have played with my friends, I had a GH pack mowed down till all that was left was a single GH with a plasma pistol and chainsword. He then proceded to kill a deamonhost in close combat over 2-3 rounds, and then finished off a second (already wounded daemonhost) immediatley after that. I was going to have him try and go after the vindicare assassin on the board, but he got pasted by the assassin's pistol first. :teehee: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166497-tales-of-heroism/#findComment-1961987 Share on other sites
OnlyInDeath
My story is yet another tale in the saga of Ragnar Blackmane. In a mighty battle against heratic (vanilla) marines, orks, and eldar, ragnar led his pack of bloodclaws on a flanking mission towards a tactical squad of the marines holding a building on the right flank. working into position, they charged the marines and felled most of the squad, who resolutely held thier position, calling in support. From the skies fell a full two assault squads of marines and from the shadows, a unit of ork Kommandos joined the frey. Truley battle was joined! Through the rest of the game, three full turns of combat, the heroic bloodclaws fell one after another to the tide against them until it was only Ragnar who remained, and no wolf stood his ground with more honor than Ragnar that day. When they day was won, Ragnar stood with a single wound left, surrounded by the piles of his dead, accounting for the entire tac squad, all the Kommandos, a full assault squad and only the sergeant and two assault marines left from the second squad. While the bloodclaws did help a little, Ragnar himself felled over twenty-five of the 38 opponents who faced him that day. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
the only saga that still brings warmth to my heart was upon the field of battle against the foul greekskins, and the Sons of Dorn, the Imperial Fists. While the cause of why the Sons of Russ and Dorn came to blows, their terrible battle was interrupted by a horde of pirate Greenskins, and then battle was truely joined. Wolf Guard Battle Leader Kjaran Coldheart led the pack of Cullen Yellowfang's Grey Hunters onto the field of battle, and armored in ancient terminator armor and weilding a mighty frost blade and assault cannon, punished the oncoming Greenskins tremendously. For while Venerable Dreadnought Alrik Wyrmslayer defeated the Imperial Fists attempt to flank the Space Wolves position, the vile greenskins tried to do with numbers what the Sons of Dorn failed to do with elite Marines. The greenskins adavanced in three great mobs upon the ruins held by Wolf Guard Battle Leader Kjaran, and under his mighty assault cannon and the bolters of Cullen's Pack, the largest of the Ork mobs were destroyed. But the Greenskins are cunning in their own way, and soon massive cannons looted from previous battlefields, and while their aim was as poor as ever, their rate of fire meant some brothers were being struck by accident. Now the patience was never the strongest trait of Wolf GUard Battle Leader Kjaran, and to be shot at by Orks boiled his blood. WIth a mighty cry to Russ and the Emperor he led his brothers, now number just 4 Grey Hunters and Cullen, to charge the Ork Mobs approaching his position. The fury of Fenris was visited upon the Ork mobs, but while their fury was titantic, their numbers few and slowly the Ork mobs consolidated around the warriors. Wolf Guard Battle Leader Kjaran was the very sword of Russ personified, chopping through Orks without count even as his brothers were felled by the monster. Now the Imperial Fists saw this combat, and under of Captain Burns, directed their Whirlwind Tank to fire into the sea of Green monsters. At the center of this firepower was Wolf Guard Battle Leader Kjaran, laughing as his armor protected him from the 3 salvos of vengeful Whirlwind fire, while the Orks meet death from explosive barrage or ancient frost blade. Being cowardly creatures, the last of the mobs fled the unwounded Space Wolf, but never escaped from his wrath as his assault cannon gunned down the monsters. The Rhino APC "Russ's Spear" flanked the victorious Space Wolf as he advanced into the center objective, while reaping a monsterous toll on the cowardly greenskins who dared to shoot at his brothers. Finally night fell, the Greenskins lay dead or dying, while the Sons of Dorn was awed by the martial feats of Alrik Wrymslayer and WOlf GUard Battle Leader Kjaran, and left the field of battle to the Wolves. KiltedMarine
Listen! Between the time when Horus ravaged Terra, and the Tau expanded upon the ramparts of Gulliman's realm, there was an age undream'd of. Hither came Llugh, the Wolf-Lord, sword in hand. It is I, his Bard, who knows well his saga, who can best tell you of his deeds... On Lascar IV, that dark sepulchural world shrouded in the ash-clouds of countless sulfrous foundries, the Necrons rose from buried tombs where the silent dust of eons coated green-black hallways of alien marble. In a clanking, clockwork tide they descended on Blacksteel Hive, the site of the administrative palace for the entire subsector. The Beltaine Blade, Llugh's chosen Company, struck from orbit and waded into deadly combat, pitting chainswords and faith against eldritch energies and deathless malice. Llugh's deeds in the campaign are too numerous to mention here, but most fondly sung in the feast-halls of beloved Cymru of the rolling hills is the tale of his stand at the very ramparts of the Hive. His chosen bodyguard and he, cut off from the body of the Company and left on foot after the shattering of their Rhino, charged on foot across a killing-ground of broken rock and sand into the teeth of the Necron line. In their charge, six fell to crippling wounds from gauss flayer fire. They struck the Necron line like an iron wave, and Llugh laid about like a very Primarch, the bright powersword in his fist striking like a lightning bolt, and his brawdi behind him cleaving left and right with buzzing chainswords and crackling powerfists. In the melee the dead struck down two more, but Llugh and his remaining companions surged along the line of the dully gleaming skeletons into the next unit, having none left in the first to sunder. In that phalanx they committed bloody slaughter, with Llugh himself striking down as many as all his comrades combined. When the Necrons realized the potency of Llugh's prowess, and saw the futility of standing against such a chosen son of the emperor, they fled with a silent flash of acitinic lighting into their warrens, to rebuild their mechanical legions and curse the names of the Hounds of Arawn.... Skirnir Ragefang
'Twas on the corpse choked battlefield of a nameless Planet, where Wolflord Skalgar Irontooth met his fate. In a desperate last stand he and his pack of Blood Claws held back wave after wave of traitorous guardsmen, while awaiting relief by imperial forces. Scared by the Wolves prowess and strength of arms the heretic commander ordered an artillery strike on Irontooths position. Many of the young Blood Claws, mere pups, fell to the blasts of Eartshaker rounds, but when the traitors charged the holdout, the survivors rallied with grim determination behind their lord and made ready to show their opponents the true fury of Fenris. Mighty Skalgar met the heretics commander's bodyguard and slaughtered his way through them. With a mighty sweep of his Frostblade he clove the Archheretic in twain only to be laid low by a treacherous attack from a heretic comissar's ensorcelled power fist. What was left of his retinue formed a protective circle around his body and made ready to sell their lives most dearly. Yet salvation was not far away. Only three Blood Claws were still alive when droppods screamed from the sky and the rumble of rhino apcs sounded in the distance. The traitors advance bereft of a leader quickly turned into a retreat as newly arrived grey hunters under the command of Skirnir Ragefang unleashed the relentless fury of their bolters upon the enemies of the Imperium. Soon Canoness Brigitta and her Sisters of the Argent Blade added their Firepower to the storm of retribution and the retreat turned quickly into a rout and then into bloody carnage. They paid dearly for bringing down a Wolflord, but their victory was only shortlived, for a few days later Skalgar Irontooth again lead his great Company into battle. Now entombed into the adamantine sarcophagus of a dreadnought, at the head of his wolves, he smashed his way through the defenses of the planetary capital an crushed the rebellion for good. Billy182
Today my Wolf Guard Battle Leader, Barbarian, pulled off a feet of glory earning him an eternal page in space wolf lore. The battle was going poorly for me, i couldn't roll an armour save for the life of me. Barbarian and his reduced unit of blood claws were charged by a Greater demon, 2 units of lesser demons, and a unit of FNP Possessed. It was looking bleak for the wolves as i surely expected the Greater Demon to lay a beatdown on their ass. But, Barbarian would not allow his fledgling wolfs to be crushed by the vile demon. With the help of his WTN and Wolf Pelt he slashed five hits though the Greater Demon's defenses. With 2 initial 6's to wound it was looking hopefully. Then, BAM a divine act of Russ, all three re-rolled wounds came up as 6's. Barbarian had managed to hack five wounds into the T6 I4 beast. With my opponent failing four of his five 4+ invulnerable saves the previously unmolested demon was sent packing back to the warp before he could lay a talon on any of the Blood Claws. If that isn't a crazy feat of heroism i don't know what is!
