He took about 10 hours, from start to finish. Also, the first time I seriously played around with GS. Gavotte
What did you use for the scrolls? Looks like paper, but I'm not too sure.. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166533-brother-faust/#findComment-1961149 Share on other sites
ulricarus
if this is your first time using GS then you are a very talented/gifted guy, it looks great, though highlighting would be a good finishing touch. looks good! merc3065
YAY! Someone else who doesn't highlight! Im still experimenting with the slightly lighter than chaos black for highlights. Love the dreadnought and the pics are perfect for it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166533-brother-faust/#findComment-1961157 Share on other sites

SamboR
Nice dread. Scrolls looks like made from plasticard. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166533-brother-faust/#findComment-1961272 Share on other sites

mortum
Thank you! For the scrolls, I use my wifes old tea llights after she's finished with them. They are little candles with an aluminum thing they sit in. I cut them so that they lay flat, roll my xacto over it to make sure it's completely flattened. Then cut to shape and bend. They are thick enough to hold whatever shape you put them in, but thin enough to actually work with. If you have a wife/mom/gramma, chances are they have a few. I could take some pics of how I do it, if ya want. As for shading, I'm not sure if I want to? My modeling background is in 1/35th scale WW2 stuff, so sometimes the 'citadel' style of painting is to much. That and I'm not very good at it yet... Fausto2071
looks really awesome~what did you use for the scroll name? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166533-brother-faust/#findComment-1961925 Share on other sites
mortum
Did it in pencil first, then just used my smallest brush, same with the lettering on the scrolls and purity seals. You can't really tell from the pictures, but I used black ink w/ a touch of red and brown ink. It gives it a little flavor, kinda looks alittle more aged then just staight black ink. merc3065
Just gotta be careful about the sharp points on the aluminum. Do you do anything special to take away any of the sharper edges like folding or covering the edges in something like putty or what not? Grey Mage
I think the model looks beautiful, and perfect without highlighting. Well done model, love the conversions youve added. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166533-brother-faust/#findComment-1968610 Share on other sites
Messanger of Death
WOW!!!! Normally I dont like the Dreadnought with that sort of sarcophagus (prefer the ones with a head). But your Dreadnought is just so stunning, and the lighting makes the model look like it has highlights. But if you are unsure how to go about highlighting black then this Link should give you some ideas. Godfrey
Your dreadnought looks great, I never would have thought to use the metal from a tea light, that's awesome. I love dreadnoughts. I think it comes from watching battle tech when I was younger. The idea of walking around in an armored suit is just appealing. I just posted some WiP pics of my second dread in the WiP section. Messanger of Death
I just Googled Tea Light and now that I know what it is, I just realised I have a load of those. Consider that idea stolen. But I am curious as to how you cut them. Like did you use clippers or scissors or something else?
