tomambrosio
Quick question that came up during our pyramid league. Can dreadnoughts get cover saves from having an infantry squad between themselves and the firing unit? If so, under what conditions would they get a cover save? Cedric
As vehicles, walkers recieves cover as per the hull down rules. Infantry can provide this, in the right setup. Gaz1858
Aslong as the intervening models cover more then 50% of the vehicle. Terminators for example do this well Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166539-dreadnoughts-and-cover-saves/#findComment-1961261 Share on other sites
tomambrosio
I did not want to give away too much information so as not to prejudice the answers from the forum readers. The situation is like this: a SM dreadnought behind a squad of tactical space marines. JamesI
I did not want to give away too much information so as not to prejudice the answers from the forum readers. The situation is like this: a SM dreadnought behind a squad of tactical space marines. I would consider it unlikely the dreadnought was 50% covered, so likely no save. Brother Gothard
5th edition is all about True Line of Sight. So unless a crouching Ratling was shooting at the Dreadnought, I do not think it would receive a cover save. Though it is not impossible; you would have to get down and check. If 50% of the model is covered from the firing model's TRUE line of sight, then cover save it is. jeffersonian000
Per the rules, if you and your opponent are unable to agree that a 4+ cover save should be available to a vehicle, a 5+ save can be given instead (I assume to just get the game moving along). chaplain_quint
It depends on how far the tactical where away from the dreadnought. also if you put 2 marines on top of each other than they are higher than a dreadnought. so if a solid wall of marines with no gaps between them a dreadnought could easily get a cover save.
