shatter
Sometimes you can read and reread something and never focus on the bit you really need. Tried searching for over an hour but blast, scatter and cover are very frequently used words. If I have a bunch of plasma cannon devastators, shoot at a tank and they scatter to units standing behind them, do they get cover saves? If it scatters into an occupied building with no windows on that side, do they get cover? I mean seriously, if I have no idea what path the shot must have taken, how can squads dodge it? The rules speak of ricochets and so forth, which again compromises the LOS rule as the projectile patently didn't follow line of sight. How is it played where you roll? A further question, if I can see a lone terrainless tank fine, can I place a bast marker on the top of it's hull in a pisition the firer cannot see? eg the back (or even centre) of a rhino when in reality I can only see the side facing, not even the top of the thing. As the facings are essentially 2d, it suggests that with true LOS many tanks are untargettable. Where does one draw the line? Seahawk
If I have a bunch of plasma cannon devastators, shoot at a tank and they scatter to units standing behind them, do they get cover saves?Of course they do. You draw LOS from the final placement of the template (after scatter) to the eyes of the firer. If it hits a different unit behind other units that grant cover, consider the model to have fired at that other unit, even though you shot at the tank. If it scatters into an occupied building with no windows on that side, do they get cover?Buildings by definition, can be damaged or destroyed by such stray shots, and units inside cannot be hurt until the building is wrecked or exploded, just like a transport. If it is a Ruin to which you refer, then no matter what direcion it comes from (pg 22) they get cover saves as it is area terrain (pg 82). can I place a bast marker on the top of it's hull in a pisition the firer cannot see? You're not putting it where the firer can't see, you're placing it according to the rules on page 60: When firing a blast weapon against a vehicle, place the marker with the hole over any part of the vehicle's hull and then roll for scatter as normal. The difference is where the hole ends up. Read and learn! ;) ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166619-blast-scatter-and-cover-saves/#findComment-1962160 Share on other sites
shatter
thanks. =) You can keep the 'read and learn' comment though. I don't want it. =p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166619-blast-scatter-and-cover-saves/#findComment-1962179 Share on other sites
Isiah
You can keep the 'read and learn' comment though. I don't want it. =p Yes I agree. I'm assuming Seahawk meant it jokingly in which case a ;) or :tu: or B) would have done wonders for interwebs communication enhancement ;). So don't take offence shatter. Mal
Thats always the issue with web written communication, what one person thinks will be taken as a light hearted attempt at humor, anoter can take as a blantant insult... Thats one of the reasons why I don't bother trying to get people to like me online.... ^_^ But back on topic now... As a slightly different approach, a barrage weapon check for cover saves from the centre of the blast template not the firer.... its a good way of dealing with hordes of orksies hiding behind a wall... (for example). Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166619-blast-scatter-and-cover-saves/#findComment-1962657 Share on other sites
