Grey Knight Trainee
So this is my daemonhunters army and its about 2400 points with upgrades and my army is mainly grey knights. i have converted normal space marines from assault on black reach and I converted them to Grey knights by cutting their arm up to the elbow pad and then I put weapons from fantasy counts onto them to show their NMFW. The Dreadnought with the lascannons is holding a genestealers head haha. So tell me what u think of my army and I need suggestions in wat to get next thank you. sorry my camera is quite bad when taking photos of warhammer 40k models Grey Knight Trainee Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166658-my-grey-knightdaemonhunters-army2500-with-upgrades/ Share on other sites
Impactwinter
i like your stuff, esp the captain conversion and the dreads; but i gotta warn ya, outside of a friendly group some of you PAGK conversions could hit some WYSIWYG problems with regard to their "stormbolters". You know your crowd better than we do, but just thought i'd add that Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166658-my-grey-knightdaemonhunters-army2500-with-upgrades/#findComment-1963194 Share on other sites
boreas
Great stuff!!! Two bits of advice: First, thin out your paints a bit. This way, you won't loose details (although your painting is already pretty precise). Second, use washes. A brown (devlan mud) wash will have astrinking effect on you golds. A blue (but thinned!) wash will give some depth to your silver! Once again, great job! boreas
Here are a few tips: For all gold surfaces: Devlan Mud wash (straight out of the pot, but don't apply too much!) For all silver surfaces: Asurman blue wash (thinned 50-50 with water, wash generously) Next things to buy: The IG codex, a few cadian boxes, a few Heavy Weapons squad boxes. Adding a platoon: Platoon command squad (Commander, commissar (count-as Inquisitor if you prefer fluff-wise), 4 Plasmaguns), 2 x 10 guards (possibly a flamer, meltagun or other), 1-2 Heavy weapons team (3 lascannons or 3 autocannons depending on your likings or opponents). This will add lots of depth to you army, giving you a solid firebase and few objective holders. The guards, as objective holding troops, will often be left alone as your opponent will peceive the GKs as a more important threat. Another thing you might want to add (for Apocalypse purposes) is 1-2 vendettas. Getting GKs across the board rapidly in triple-twin-linked-lascannon birds is a good option! Grey Knight Trainee
but the thing is i think IG are too crappy except their tanks but i was starting to get battle sisters and have about 40 of them and celestine and my grey knights and i was thinking of creating my own guys with stats and stuff but good tips for the paints and wash ill certainly do that but i need to get them first. so would u think sisers of battle would be better than getting IG Grey Knight Trainee Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166658-my-grey-knightdaemonhunters-army2500-with-upgrades/#findComment-1963685 Share on other sites
boreas
Well, Sisters are another good way to go. In that case, though, I'd go with a SoB mother list. Grab a Canoness, 2 boxes of sisters, 2 sisters with meltaguns, 2 rhinos and 2 Whirlwinds. That will give you a good core army. You can use the Canoness as a good all-around jump-packer that can tie units or destroy tanks (if you equip her with an eviscerator). The two squads in rhinos are also multi-task. Some will prefer to have a flamer and a meltagun in each, some will prefer to put the similar weapons together. Finally, the 2 exorcists are extremely good tanks that can hurt tanks, monstrous creatures, bikers, etc... Add the "bodyguard" protection of a few GK squads and you have a solid army. If you prefer a GK parent list, then adding the Canoness, the 2 squads of Sisters and a squad of seraphim is also a good way to go! Phil PS: Before you get some warning, you should possibly read the forum rules about correct writing (punctuation, capitals, etc!) :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166658-my-grey-knightdaemonhunters-army2500-with-upgrades/#findComment-1963933 Share on other sites
