Voracioustigger
Hey everyone, since B&C folks are more into speculation than those over at warseer, I was wondering what you all thought of Shadowphrakt's comment there that a Wolf Guard in TDA w/ Lightning claws is costing a whopping 60pts (but have 6A on the charge). Seems like a bit much especially with how GW seems to be lowering the costs of units and packaging units with lots of goodies at a small price, so what other goodies do you all think the WG will get to justify this? Right now, even a WG squad leader w/ Terminator armor and LCs comes in at only 55pts. Granted, they have 2 less attacks on the charge, but still... it seems like they must be getting some great toys b/c GW seems to be learning more and more that a 1W model still dies pretty easily no matter how many goodies you give it. To start off with some wild speculation... I'm guessing 3A base, Runic charm (which I'll guess no allows one re-roll of any save per game), and maybe (b/c WGBLs are rumored to be gone) a Wolf Lord rule that buffs them (maybe all Lords get Berserk charge?). So, there's what I think... any other ideas... (oh and if you know anything, feel free to drop hints B) ) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166790-wolf-guard-in-tda-60pts/ Share on other sites
Ullr Direfang
well i think that the 60 points is way out there, that is to much for one guy. he would need at least 6 attacks and maybe more strength. it would be cool to see something like that but i wouldn't pay the points. i don't think they will drop the WGBL, if they do they will most likely just rename the guy. i wouldn't doubt our wolf lord getting something like furious charge, instead of orbital strick, seems more wolfy. honestly i don't really think much about what we are going to get. it just doesn't seem worth it to get all worked up until i know it is going to be here. OnlyInDeath
My thoughts are possibly that the points value seen would be the possible "mounted" wolfguard that I heard rumored around here (something along the line of WG in termie armor riding giant fenrisian wolves). That could possibly account for the 60 points cost if they were essentially cavalry models, but able to wear termie armor. Two attacks from a Fenrisian Wolf would also be that "6 attacks" on the charge (which, mind you, is more than anyone but HQ's get in a game for the most part, so highly unlikely that it would be a single model's attacks). However, this would be an AWFULLY beardy unit if true. WG stats, 2+ save, pair of lightning claws, 6" move, 12" charge....oooooouch.... Voracioustigger
However, this would be an AWFULLY beardy unit if true. WG stats, 2+ save, pair of lightning claws, 6" move, 12" charge....oooooouch.... Eh, if you've ever played as the 13th company, you know that a model can be a one man wrecking crew for 70pts... but still be worthless b/c he can't reach CC. 13th Co WGL w/ Term Armor, Storm Shield, Chainfist, Runic Charm, MotW = 86pts for 4-6 attacks standing still with a 2+ Save w/ 1 re-roll and a 3+ inv. He basically kills anything he comes in contact with... but he's still a 1W model, and if he doesn't reach CC... he's useless. So, 60pts for a model in a squad of 60pt models? I really think it has to be something amazing to justify that. I mean, that puts a 5man WG Bodyguard at (seemingly) 300pts + Wolf Lord base. With a squad like that... you'd have to transport it in a Land Raider... Therefore, that one unit is at minimum around 650pts of your army. I dunno about the WG mounted on wolves... probably the least believable rumor I've heard so far. OnlyInDeath
Yeah, like I said, it was just floating around the rumor mill, some guy who knew some guy who's uncle had a daughter who's son spoke to phil kelly. Still, for 60 points a pop w/ 18" move/charge range, if true it would make it the best counter attacking reserve unit you've ever seen. Like i said tho, just not bloody likely Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166790-wolf-guard-in-tda-60pts/#findComment-1964446 Share on other sites
Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
maybe the WG might be given an extra wound, and be more like a ork nob that a simple sergeant equivilant... Megalodon
I must have missed something. Where did you get the 60 points value? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166790-wolf-guard-in-tda-60pts/#findComment-1964473 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
A WGBG in TDA with 2 LCs is 60pts, and has 4 attacks on the charge. I completely discount this rumor. Theyd get two extra attacks on the charge for free, but likely loose the ability to customize. I think all of these rumors are complete crap however.
