xceptionzero
Anyone know if theres ever been reference to other planets in the same system? or orbitals such as moons Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166830-fenris-star-system/ Share on other sites
JEFF4i
Read the Ragnar series. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166830-fenris-star-system/#findComment-1965206 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Well theres two suns, and I know that fenris has atleast one moon, but I cant remember how many Im afraid. Sorry man. Quillen
2 suns? I only remeber one. Remember it get to close to it's SUN (single) and then moves too far. With an orbit like that thou, nothing should be near fenris it's self, as it wonld have forced it into a set orbit and thrown it off into open space. Maybe like 12 AU or so away. Anything closer would screw with it's orbit and well, make it rotate in a set plane or off into no where. Grey Mage
No, theres a big one and a smaller one, a dwarf star. Atleast, thats what I remembered. Ill have to go check, maybe one of our rune priests will show up and help out. dragon950
From what I remember there is only one sun in the Fenris System, but Fenris is on an unstable axis so during the summer months the planet is close to the sun and during winter it is far away from the sun. As for other planets in the system, never heard any descriptions about them. As for the orbit, its possible for it to have an elliptical orbit. Pluto (I think its Pluto) has one which cuts through the other planets orbits, although not quite on the same plane as us. And no where near severe enough to get the climate changes Fenris suffers. It is a dwarf planet, :D Honestly, it would be a minor change for Fenris to have an elliptical orbit that effects things by what we might consider 10-20 degrees celcius. In cosmic terms that isn't terribly much, and in a system that wouldn't have many planets, its plausible. Oh, and my previous comment was because I was thinking the Fenrisian "Space," which isn't necessarily exclusive to its solar system. xceptionzero
so it seems fenris is a single star system with jsut one planet and maybe a moon? Is their anything mentioning nearby planets, inhabited or not? perhaps an adajcent system? I was hoping to use some allied IG and maybe say they are pdf or the such from another palent in the system or a nearby one Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/166830-fenris-star-system/#findComment-1965979 Share on other sites

Valerian
As for the orbit, its possible for it to have an elliptical orbit. Not only is it possible, it is mandatory. See Kepler's First Law of Planetary motion: "The orbit of every planet is an ellipse with the sun at a focus." The unique thing about Fenris is that its elliptical orbit is highly eccentric (e.g. oblong), which causes its severe changes in climate throughout its orbit, "The Great Year" as it is called, about two Earth years long. Fenris' seasons are determined by its distance from its sun, "The Eye of Russ", which is different than here on Earth. Instead, our seasons are dictated by the angle of Earth's axis to the sun, rather than by distance. In fact, for the northern hemisphere at least, the Earth is closer to the sun during the winter than during the summer.
