W.I.P Wolf Lord / WGBL

Greetings brothers,

I have decided to place this here rather than the W.I.P forum because its a purely wolfy subject but I understand if the mods need to move it. Anywho...

I have started making myself a Wolf lord/WGBL. I have 5 forgeworld terminators but wanted to create something different. soooooo

Replaced one side of thunder hammer head with a wolf head taken from the backpack from upgrade sprue.

Using the wolf cloak from upgrade sprue to wolf up the standard terminator body

head is taken from a chaos marauder.

I've Done the first piece of green stuff to add strength to the cloak and start building up the layers. I wanted to get some pics up early on for comment / suggestion.

Soooooo

I've left the storm sheild off for now as it will get in the way when painting other wise, but planning to have a wolf pelt or two hanging from it.

So Brothers what do you think?

would've been better if you'd put the wolf head on the trailing end of the hammer.

I'll have to wait to see how you paint it. Right now it looks a little barren to be a Wolf Lord. There's a whole host of other conversion things you could've done, but at this point it's much too late. (except maybe that weapon swap). For your next conversion, I'll list some of the ideas:

Cut up the terminator breastplate till you can fit one of the breastplates from the Wolf Sprue onto it.

Add spacers to him in various locations to make him stand taller than other terminators in your army

Bulk out the shoulder pads and make them unique. Maybe by adding crenelations to them. Could even add Wolf Tails to the crenelations.

Give him a loin cloth/tabard. Could be done either with GS or by using the Command Squad breastplate in suggestion 1.

Toss a banner on him. Normally I avoid banners for transportation reasons, but a Wolf Lord or Standard Bearer are where I'd make exceptions. Now it's

just the Wolf Lord I'd make the exception for.

Maybe bulk up the hammer head or swap the hammer for Inquisitor Torquemada's hammer or a similar different hammer. Adding the Wolf Head is a good

step. But again, I'd throw it on the trailing edge and then bulk up the hammer head till it matches the size of the Wolf Head.

It'd be nice if you could reposition the legs for a more dynamic pose, but that can be difficult.

Nice GS work though. With more work it'll look awesome and no one will doubt he's your Wolf Lord.

Thats exactly why I put the pics up so early, still plenty of time for changes.

I was considering replacing both sides of the head with the wolve head put I see what you mean about bulking it up for impact. I my put head on other side and replace forward head with a large axe head.

Not allot of wolfy details yet, Thanx for compliment on GS, I wanted to use this project to expand my GS skills so I plan to wolf the body up that way.

My previous endeavors with GS......all two of umm ;)

@ hendrik, hehe I had the same thought, I've taken the hanging wolf teeth and rune from one of the torsos on the upgrade sprue.

I'm also toying with using the wolf belt from one of the others up above his head and then extend the wolf pelt around it but I'm not sure about this so no glue but the necklace is done. Thoughts on the belt?? I'm not so sure

/me throws hendrik an ale, and asks if he's considered joining the ranks of the wolf priests, knowin what I was thinkin and all...

Ok, stage 2 of the cloak is done. Next step is to bulk it out onto the tops of the shoulder pads, just a little wider but not to much.

First stage of loin cloth is done, thanx for the idea Ryzouken, I think it's come out quite well just gonna add a little bulk in places once this layer is dry.. Still not sure what to do about the hammer tho I may leave it till the GS is done.

you could try clipping the hammer just below the head, flipping the bad boy around, and bulk it up with some card/GS. It'd be a she-wolf to keep it lined up nice and it'll suffer a bit in resilience, but it might be easier than starting over from scratch.

You might also consider repositioning that hammer arm so he looks like he's just at the end of a swing. It'd give a more dynamic appearance, as opposed to his current "I've got a stick!" pose.

Loin cloth looks pretty good! Maybe use that belt that made a brief appearance and stick it in the hollow of the bottom of the breastplate. Might look good there, after some more green stuffing of course.

No scenic base?

I fiddled with the belt but it just doesn't sit right.

Might not come across right in the picture but hes angled with his weapon raised in challenge and hes lookin at his target, target being deamon prince sized as hes lookinb up abit :D/

Not sure what I'm gonna do with base yet, was gonna do it last.

Pesonally I would use the thunder hammer from the MOTC set bulk it up a little and put the pad over the top of the shoulder pauldorns. But yours is looking great I'm gonna follow this closely since I'm working on my GD project for next year soon. Good Luck :D

I'm currently trying to find a nice big axe head to give me the option of using it as a power weapon/forst blade/hammer. And putting the wolf head on the back end.

@ExurionAbyssus. Thanx for yer comments. I'll have a look for that hammer head.

try using Grimgor Ironhides axe head... its kinda rustic looking, has achains with charms and such attatched to it and is about he biggest axe you can really get away with on a marine...

its the axe head i used on this guy

Ok, I found an axe head I like. Its the one from the sw upgrade sprue. Its not to big, given the other details on the weapons shaft I think it is just the right size. Having had a look and Dane war axes and the like the blades are not that big even on two handed or long shafted axes.

Well heres some pics..... Its only pinned atm with no glue so can simply pull off if I don't like it in the morning ;) It will need a little GS to get a clean join so please bear this is mind.

sorry about the late post, got distracted from spacewolfs by my weapons

i like the axe, same with the wolf tooth neclace

about joining the wolf priest; i'm not sure i'm already up to that, me figures the other wolf priests need to decide wether this grey hunter is ready to become a wolf priest, yet.

*noddles* I didn't take the design clean off, but shaved a spot for the wolf icon from the upgrade sprue so I ended up with a winged wolf icon with banner at the bottom corner. Looks semi decent, or it would if I actually spent some time on it instead of just hitting it all with bronze. I'll probably go back and make the skulls white later.

I'd say finish up that axe, work on the shield, then prime and paint!

Ok, done some work on the sheild.

took off the generic image

replaced with the large sw symbol from the upgrade sprue

added some wolf tails/pelts

added some battle damage to the sheild

Still to do...

Bulk pelt onto shoulders

finish off loincloth

GS axe head

GS wolf symbol on shield as atm its edges are off the surface of shield as shield is rounded and symbol is flat. On other handed may leave it... not sure.

Anyway onto some pics...

sides of the shield need something added. Maybe lightning strokes coming off the wolf icon, or some other space filling iconography. Maybe ought to have left the "embossed" background edge thing on it. (y'know, the raised portion that runs the shape of the shield, creating a border kind of effect.) Maybe some runes added during painting? I don't know. Just looks awfully blank to me.

Hey Guys,

I have had zero time for painting what with coursework and children but anywho....

Managed to get the face done, and the base coat on the armor. The basecoat hasn't been tidyed up yet so its messy but when its finished it'll be sorted so.....

What are you implying RRChristensen? That all teens are mentally challenged enough to not wear their helmets on their first moped? For shame sir. Nah. Just kidding ;)

Its looking good. I can see great things appearing from this model keep working on it. More work on the hair needed but other than that it its looking good.

PS If you have any of the old school inks water them down a bit and try it. They may make the model slightly shiny but if you coat it afterwards it purity seal it takes some considerable amount of the shine off. Just a tip ;)
