Stormreaver
Hey peeps, A while ago I started an Alpha Legion army which I put on the backburner because I felt I wasnt a good enough painter to do them justice. been practicing a bit and so Ive not redone my old squad with some sclaes freehand and better highlights, let me know what you think, and I'll post up a few more when I complete them. EDIT : Posted better pics below. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167031-alpha-legion-blog/ Share on other sites

Lord Arkhand
Pictures look fine to me. I really like the scales, you have clearly gone to a lot of effort. Chronowraith
I love the subtle scales on the models. Overall I like your Alpha Legion quite a bit. You have a few booboos here and there but give yourself a pat on the back as you did a good job with your models  One suggestion though, instead of finite green lines for highlights have you tried using green glaze to get a more blended green effect? Just something to think about as, even if you don't have experience glazing, this project would be a good way to learn. Stormreaver
More updates, here is a defiler and some possessed. All the models have the same scale pattern as the above models, even if the phots don't show em. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00232.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00223.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00224.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00226.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00227.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00228.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00229.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00230.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00231.jpg Also took some brighter pics of the above squad http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00235.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00236.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00237.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00238.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/DSC00239.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167031-alpha-legion-blog/#findComment-2097016 Share on other sites

SquirrelKing
Although I hate the new AL scheme from the latest chaos dex (I find the scales too much) I love the job you have done. They really look amazing, and the paint job is superbe! Keep it up! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167031-alpha-legion-blog/#findComment-2099602 Share on other sites
dood515
I love the green on the defiler face but i think there's a biiig mould line on one of the backpacks so big that you've actually highlighted it. I apoligise if it isn't one but it looks like it to me. Stormreaver
Its not a mould line, its part of the backpack <_< Anyway, pics of the sorc are done so here he his! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/5b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/5a.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Stormreaver/Alpha%20Legion/4.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167031-alpha-legion-blog/#findComment-2099648 Share on other sites

Stormreaver
The idea for using the snakey bits in alpha legion armies was pioneered by Kaleb Daark so credit where credit is due, check out his work on the forums if you can find it, this AL stomp all over mine :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167031-alpha-legion-blog/#findComment-2099960 Share on other sites
Master Toddius
Its so refreshing to see something other than another brokenly powerful death guard army being worked on in the wip forums or yet another Khorne army. These Alphas are very expertly done and I love all the icons and dragon/serpent/hydra aesthetic. The blue is not too dark or light and the green mixes well as a highlight. Very entertaining build so far. Keep going. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/167031-alpha-legion-blog/#findComment-2100065 Share on other sites
chrac
Where do the snaky bits come from? They look amazing. I did a search for kaleb dark but didn't find anything that dealt with the snake bits for alpha legion.
